I've been toying with the idea of loading some M2 AP bullets in my 300, just for fun.

Please share your experiences, load data, anything else you want, except the legality of doing this.

Every thread I've found on this issue gets side tracked with legal mumbo jumbo. I've got a good handle on the legal mumbo jumbo, but want to know about the round itself.

Thanks guys.

From the M2 rounds I have gotten ahold of, most are marginal at best for sectional density. Ie cut them down the center line and there are air pockets randomly throughout throwing off consistency. After I saw that I decided to scrap the thought of 1200 meter M2 rounds. Other experiences may vary.

Thanks for the response, I was wondering about the accuracy. The M1 Garand crowd has reported that they prefer this round in competitions because it is more accurate than ball. Then again, they were excited about 2 moa accuracy.

I was hoping with a good powder charge and some TLC to get the rounds to 1 moa, or close to it. I have a ton of old engine blocks and scrap iron around the farm that would be fun to experiment with.

Must have been seconds, as it was a known fact most all 30-06 AP was more accurate, than the bulk of match ammo back when.
Carlos was using that ammo the day he made the scope shot, so I was told.
