Hey all. Long time reader, first time poster. Anyways, here’s what I got for y’all.

I got myself a TBA M24 SWS back in 2008 and have had it since. I’ve taken a long hiatus from long range precision until lately and have dove back into it headfirst. The rifle shoots great, but there are so many new advancements in tech from stocks to glass that I would like to update it somewhat. However, it seems like getting lower metal with detachable mags is a shitshow due to the long action/7.62 combo. Threading the barrel for a Surefire muzzle break to use an already on-hand 300 SPS suppressor is also on the table. However, I’m nervous to do that for fear of wrecking the accuracy of the barrel. Would I be better off just selling the stick and buying something else, or are these options worthy of keeping it? Eager to hear from some of you salt dogs.

Please don’t chop up that original m24! You could sell that thing and build an entire custom rifle. Those M24’s are getting hard to come by. If you do get serious about selling it I’ve been looking for one for awhile now. I have a custom built M24 but i still have a weak spot for the originals.

Yeah, what he said. Honestly, at this point the main reason to even own an M24 is for personal nostalgia or collecting purposes. Modern tech has evolved to a point where I'd chuck most of that and start anew.

For comparison, I built an SPR Mod 0 clone around 2008 because that particular configuration is near and dear to my heart; even added the little details that made it just like downrange. I shot it for years and it's still one of my favorites in my personal collection, but it's age is really showing these days. So recently I set out to make what I would consider a modern version of the same rifle. "What would I do if I was in charge of Crane and had to get SPRs out to guys in the field?" I now have two rifles: one is a classic nostalgia project and the other is a modern fighting rifle.

Porque no los dos?

Not an original. TBA built by Lau.
