Rifle Scopes M40 rifle needing a scope - which to choose?

Have a locally built M40 style rifle that sports a Redfield commercial Accu-Range tombstone fine reticle scope today.

Looking to make a move upwards as I could really use more magnification and a better ranging system not to mention a more solid and durable scope.

Any ideas in the $1500 range plus or minus a little?

I am not sure what all you are looking for in a scope, but the following come to mind based on what you did list that you would like to have.

SS
NF NXS (may have to go used)
Some of the IOR models
Leupold Mark 4

Another vote for the Super Sniper HD line. Snag a 5-20x if you can...it is excellent glass.

The M40 is such a good looking rifle, and if it were my rifle, I'd try to keep the profile as clean as possible. The M40 is such a clean looking rifle. The low profile knobs will keep the sleek profile of the rifle.

Leupold Mark 4 10x40 or 3.5-10x40 with M3 knobs (or call the custom shop and see if they can hook you up with M2 knobs).

If you want more magnification, Leupold also has the VX-3 4.5-14x40. I'm not sure what the Custom Shop can do with this scope, but it might be worth looking into.

Buy kc shooters us optic 10 x fixed, that would be a sweet scope,and you would have a few hundred bucks left over for ammo!

Or, a Leupold 4.5-14 40mm PR/mk4 would also be sweet ($650ish used or$850 ish new). I like mine and it would look good on an m40.

There are a couple of nice USO ST-10 examples in the For Sale section right now. I don't think you can really go wrong with a secondhand USO -- they seem to hold their value.

The ST-10's have superb optics, they are a bit bigger than the other line - BUT you get superb optics...

Mine is also known as "The Hubble" but it's not the new low profile either.
