Thanks for the heads up. No offense but that’s the direct opposite experience I’ve had. I have 4 m40s built by him and the quality is top notch. Sorry to hear others have had bad experiences. But I’m not one of them.
Then you should be thanking the 2112’s that actually built your rifles back before he burned them all and got the hobby lobby shut down the first time. He’s never been anything more than a middle man making money off the active duty Marine doing all the work.
I will agree that 2112’s can build a good stick.
Now he just lies and tell’s you a 2112 at PWS is building it because his name is trash in that community and nobody will so much as look at him.
I’m glad you got some good sticks out of the deal though. Wouldn’t want anyone having to deal with his current trash now that 2112’s aren’t doing the work for him.

Mine M40A1 build here in Norway. Hunting high and low, to get parts. Even a tripp to McMillan to pick up the stock along visit to Shot Show. She sure a shooter and a keeper.
I totally agree with you. He messed up my build. He does not stand up to all the hype he says he is. I was very disappointed in my build. Had to go back to him what a mistake that was. After it being sent back and it coming back worse than what I sent it in for. Had Two other smiths clean up his mistakes. Only reason it took two was one did not do Black Oxide.
Could be wrong but those look like Uncle Mikes Mil Spec swivels to me. I have some on my MK12

TMA is worse than bad in every way. Books could be written but suffice it to say there is no way you can interact with him and not be screwed. Complete POS.
You are approximately, what, seven years too late.
Had the CMP not started selling scopes you would probably be buried in stocks.
They pop up every now and again on gunbroker. Be prepared to pay for it thought. $4K-ish seems to be the norm
May know someone Interested in that Unertl if your wanting to pad your bank acct for when that smear pops up.
I read here about other's experience with TMA and had to post my negative experience. I bought his Redfield mount for my A1 but it wouldn't hold the scope. After only a few shots the scope would slide forward in the mount. I sent it back and many weeks later TMA said he "re-radiused" the rings and returned them. New mount was incredibly loose. Barely touched the scope. I sent him a video and returned the mount for a second time. Several more weeks pass before I get another mount. The holes don't line up with the rifle. TMA says GAP doesn't build an A1 to spec, and to send him the rifle and he will fix. No way am I sending a $10,000 custom build to a guy I never met in California. I tell him that I just need to return the mount because of 3 failed attempts to provide a serviceable product. He responded with a bunch of BS excuses as to why he couldn't refund. I blocked him and wouldn't recommend him to anyone. $400 lesson learned.
TMA is a piece of shit and a liar. Worse thing you can do is send him your rifle. Sorry you had to experience that tho man. I had to have my entire M40a1 built over again because of his BS and hack of a “gunsmith” .

I read several places he did a good job on builds. So I contacted him and we agreed to me trading a Unertl for a build. The build was to include the barrel, log books (which he talks shit on builds without them) all correct markings I want.,clip slot, bedding the stock, and a simrad cap for my mount and any additional stuff to finish the build. We discussed everything and I included a note with the rifle when sent what we had talked about. Rifle is a Six digit action.
After a year of having it I text him and I got that he was waiting on screws for the scope mount he could not get. Ok no big deal. Things are fucked up because of COVID. Get the call rifle is coming back to me. Great news I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Open the case and at first glance I’m happy. Then I notice there is no US stamp above the serial. The I see the barrel is marked PWS and I wanted the RTE-P. Get ahold of him and he complains and says not all rifles are built to spec like the internet say. I tell him I get that is possible but not what we agreed on. He complained and said send it back. Send back Rifle.
Rifle is gone for a few months and I get a text saying hey had to spin a new barrel the PWS would not come all the way out. I say thanks for the update. Rifle comes back. I instantly am disgusted when I open the box. Finish looks like total shit. My short shroud is somehow a long one now and the bolt lift totally sucks now. So I go to cleanup the rifle and where the action and barrel were marked the finish wipes right off. Back down to bare steel. Look closely at the barrel and you can still see PWS lightly under the now marked RTE-P. Get back in contact and was told it was a legit repair and I should be happy. At this point I am fuck this guy even if he would repair it correctly I would not even send it back to him.
So I had LRI fix the bolt lift and cut the shroud down to correct length. They did an excellent job and quickly turned it around. I had touched up the barrel and action with some wipe on black oxide. It drove me crazy because I thought it looked like shit. Raven Rifles hooked me up and redid the black oxide for me and it looked awesome. Once again great guy and turn around was super quick.
Finally get it back together go to the range and shoot it. Fuck found another issue. Should have known better and probably had LRI or Raven look at it but I figured it was fine. There is a ring around the shoulder of the brass. Get the handy dandy bore scope out. Guess what. There is a huge burr in the shoulder of the chamber. It is back out being taken care of.
Oh never got log books or my SIMRAD that was part of the deal either.
Stay far away from the Hogs Den , TMA or whatever the hell they call themselves.

His claim that PWS / Hobby Lobby does his builds is the only reason anyone even sends their builds to him and that is a flat out lie. 2112’s haven’t put hands on anything even remotely attached to his name for years because of the bull shit
he pulled on them back in the day.

To add more to the story. Just got this from the smith taking care of it.
you guys think I should start a separate post so people know not to give him any money?
Joe I got a chance to look over your rifle today. Below or the things I found, does not include the barrel issue.
1. RTE-P stamp stinks
2. U.S. stamp wrong
3. Wrong screws in base.
4. Clipslot for base incorrect.
5. Screw for front of trigger guard broke off or cut to short.
6. Wrong box mag and not welded.
7. Bedding is subpar.
8. Not 100% sure but I don’t think recoil lug has proper modification.
Yeah mine came back with quite a few issues
1. Finish was trash
2. Bedding job was an abortion and barrel wasn’t centered in barre channel
3. Rear scope base screw was broke off in the receiver
4. Mag box not welded
5. Stamps looked looked like crap
6. Wouldn’t chamber a round. His smith didn’t chamber it fully. (despite him charging me for 40rds of ammunition for test firing and claiming he did in fact test fire it)
7. For some reason his “smith” felt the need to spray my smear stock near the rear tang area with OD green paint.
8. Action screw holes were full of bedding compound
9. Stamped gun book and smeared the ink all over it at which point he decided to cover it up with clear plastic packaging tape.
10. Never sent the spanner wrench I paid for
On top of the fact it took him a year to do and when he did ship, he didn’t tell
Me he was shipping it so I came home after being out of town to find my M40a1 sitting on my porch where it had been for 3 days. Wrapped loosely in bubble wrap in a shitty cardboard box. Absolutely astonished it didn’t snap in half during the shipping process.
Won’t even get into the numerous texts messages and emails I’ve th course of the year where he constantly lied to me about who was building it and where. Even when I called him to tell him I’d been in contact with an actual 2112 at PWS who said my rifle has never been in the shop, he continues to lie through his teeth telling me that’s where it was.

Yeah learned that lesson the hard way. Fortunelty was able to send to an actual 2112 at PWS to fix everything.
Hopefully word gets out on that dude…should Post a link on M40 of this thread too.
I totally forgot about that. When my rifle came back the first time it was just bubble wrapped and thrown in the box without the CMP hard case I sent it in and the barrel was sticking out of the box. I did not care about the case.
