M5 DBM adjustment possible?

Is there any way to adjust either how far the magazine goes up into the action or the angle it sits at? On an empty magazine the follower prevents me from shutting the bolt. It gets annoying when trying to single feed but feeds fine from the mag. What say you?

Damnedest thing I ever saw. If it does the same thing with other mags I’d try to shim the rear a little so it doesn’t seat so high. If that works you could add some epoxy to build up the low areas. I don’t know for certain to be honest with you.

I don't think that's an issue with the M5 DBM, it's more than likely the magazine, if I remember correctly the follower on long action AI mags is designed to hold the bolt open after the last round.

MDT makes a long action AICS mag with a sloped follower in the back that will likely remedy this or this could possibly be done DIY style.

You did not specify but looks like an AICS 300WM or 338LM magazine.

If so, remove the follower and hit the back of it with a belt sander to get roughly a 45 degree slope ground into it. Bolt nose will contact the slope, compress it and ride over with no issues.

I have to do this with every AICS single stack magnum magazine shipping with my rifles.

Did not know that. This is an AICS 338LM mag, so that makes sense. Might have to look into that MDT mag then

Yes, AICS 338 mag. Any issues at all sanding down the follower? I’d imagine I’d need to use a fine grit to not scratch the crap outta the plastic?

Sand marks on the follower will cause zero issues.
Maintain the angle and move in enough to allow the bottom of the nose bolt to hit the newly formed slope rather than the 90 degree rear face.
I do it all the time on EVERY brand new magnum magazine.

That’s brilliant man. I thought someone might have went too deep in the rear area when they inlet it for M5 bottom metal. I’m glad you told us what we were dealing with and your solution. Great information 👍

We do the Terry Cross fix all the time. Always thought the follower was designed that way so you know when you’re empty.
I believe it I is designed that way. Must be a Brit thing.
Their AW mags can do the same thing .

I want that feature on a gasser but a big Hell Naw on a bolt gun.
