To any of the gunsmiths or machinists here,

In reference to the adjustable Cheek piece from AI has anyone ever machined "threads" into one to accept an "E" clip for consistent return to the same height. Like the set up via KNW's loggerhead cheekpiece.

I milled a spacer out of wood which is the thickness of the space under the cheek piece. After dropping it for cleaning, I raise it back up, set the spacer underneath and then lower the cheek piece until it rests on the spacer. Snug it up, take the spacer out, get to work.

Show me a picture of what you have, maybe I can help. It sounds more like you need a series of grooves, rather than threads?

Yeah the issue with the original ask is that it only allows for a single height setting. The nice thing about the collars (other than being very cheap) is that they allow you to adjust your "set point" for riser height whenever needed using the set screws.
