I made myself an adjustable cheekpiece for my new Savage Mark II FV. It's 1/4" thick ABS, thermoformed to fit the stock. I've done a few others before and am getting good at it.
If you want to make your own, first create a pattern on paper to test the shape. Then cut the ABS to size. The tricky part is the slots, which I did on a router table. You could also just drill straight through, no slots, as long as you're sure you have it where you want it. I made a wooden form to bend the ABS over with the radius on the top and some taper to match the stock. Heat the flat ABS is your wife's oven at 375°, and start checking at 5 or 6 minutes. Around 6 minutes for me, the material was just the right amount of flexible to mold around the form.
If you were just making one, you could also just drape the ABS over the stock. That's how I made the first few I did.
I had enough material to make 2 extras today, so if someone wants one and doesn't want to make one, I posted them up for sale here.
