Dallas TX.
I took my DPMS AR-15 shooting today to test some old mags I have had for over 10 years.
Before loading them I took them apart cleaned them and installed some of the green followers that I had laying around.
I loaded 25 rounds in all 8 30 round mags.
3 functioned perfect but the other 5 would not allow the bolt to pick up the next round, but you could pull the charging handle and fire one at a time. I thought I was having gas presure problems. So I loaded the 3 mags that worked the first time and they ran fine.
I guess I will be getting some PMAGS. Any one have any other suggestions? THANKS

Re: Magazine problems

Get an awl and scratch an x on the ones that work, take the balance to the next gun show and swap! Sorry, just one of those mysteries we can't understand.

Pmags are the best but Tapco's are decent as well. You can also get new springs and followers for the mags that aren't functioning right.

Re: Magazine problems

Save yourself the headache. For the AR15 either go with USGI mags or PMags. AR15 mags are so cheap it is not worth it to try to save $3 on a mag by buying some off-brand mag. In 35 years of shooting AR's I have never had an issue with a USGI mag. I have been using PMags for the last two years and they work perfectly. PMags have been combat proven. Plenty of our troops buy their own PMags and use them in combat. S&W and Ruger ship their AR15 with PMags.

If your rifle is not functioning properly with USGI mags or PMags, then the problem lies with the rifle, not the mags.

Any one know who has the best deal on them? </div></div>

Lots to be found on classifieds pretty much everywhere but the best place that I know of is JSE Surplus in Missouri. Great people with great service and prices.

www.joeboboutfitters.com

I prefer to buy in bulk from Joe Bob Outfitters because anything over $99 ships free, use a 5% or 10% coupon (when available) and then sell any extras I don't need at cost + shipping.
Might seem like a bit of a long route, but if you're just getting into PMAGS, you'll probably want 8 or 10 anyway.
