I have done a ton of business with DSG Arms because of their MIL/LE discount. Last I recall they were Magpuls largest dealer. However if you are neither Mil or LE then I suggest filing your C&R license and the dealer discount at Brownells or Midways offers a healthy enough discount to probably pay for your license cost on your first decent sized purchase.

if you are an ebay type guy, lots of magpul stuff is on there, sometimes at a good discount

Ebay worries me. Chinese manufactured counterfeit bullshit runs rampant on there and Ebay could care less. This stuff is going on my work gun, can't risk having something fall off of it when I need it.

i hear ya.... i've had good luck with actual companies located in the US. its pretty easy to distinguish the junk from the real stuff

Aim surplus if they have the items you want in stock. Thats where i buy most of mine and the free shipping is nice
