Hey guys

Just bought a Magpul MOE+ FDE grip. It was sent to me with a manufacturing defect and the company immediately sent me another. It too had the same defect. (There is a distinct gap between the trigger guard and the grip)

I called Magpul and they immediately sent me one and it too has the same problem.
I know they are made correctly. I had a complete lower for sale locally in my hand that had one on it.

It is very frustrating as this is the last part of my first AR BUILD.
Has anyone had the same problem??

I will try and post a photo.

Thanks

I only have MOE grips, not the rubber molded MOE+ grips.

I do know that every one I installed I had to use a rubber dead blow to get them seated on the lower completely as they were very tight, which isnt a bad thing IMO.

Let me go look at the MOE's in my safe and see what they look like but I dont think they have that gap.

edit: no gap

Its something with how they mold or cut it. I just looked at mine (FDE too) and the verticle section that follows behind the trigger is straight and if it weren't for the color difference, it would be seamless. There is a bevel at the lower section that none of the others have. Also, the horizontal part that transitions to the beaver-tail doesn't seem to go into a perfect 90* like mine. Is it possible the bolt hole isn't properly aligned as well? I could see some flexing altering the fit as well.

It definitely looks like a Q/C issue on the one in your photo. It looks like the rubber over-mold is shrunken back in the area where the grip meets the trigger guard, instead of being straight from top to bottom as it should be. I just took delivery of an FDE MOE+ last week that has the same problem to a slightly lesser degree.

I’m wondering if they might be pushing them out the door a little too quickly in order to meet the increased demand from the “spike”. I have a black MOE+ that I installed on my Mark12 clone a little over a year ago that does not have the issue at all. Looks like I'll be asking for a RMA too :(.
