Magpull BiPod Install Questions - w/photo - (Answered)

I picked this up because it has an awesome form factor and is light and gets great reviews. My two questions:

1) Once deployed and the legs are locked down ready to shoot, there is a full .5 inch of play (i measured it) in that rifle can rock back and forth on the legs. Seems to me you would want a rock solid "lock in" as to not allow your rifle to move with followup shots? Or is this simply a non issue in practice? No one seems to mention this in the reviews of this bipod.

2) Is the proximity to the barrel brake an issue here? I cant install it back further unless i get pick up another rail.

a little play is good, helps with loading. The Magpul does have some flex and has been noted in reviews and will obviously increase the further the legs are deployed. there really isn't an issue with the placement in regards to the brake.

if the placement really bothers you, loosen the tension knob and spin the legs around. a little better for transport and storage i suppose

Nope not at all, I WANT it like this. I use a far forward grip when standing so want the legs out of the way. Just wanted to know if the expelled gas blasts would F it up or not or somehow be deemed unsafe. (e.g temperature). I didn't think so, but I have no qualms in asking you guys to be on the safe side.

No issues with this bipod on my rifle.
