Maiden voyage - New coyote rifle.

Hey guys finally got to take the new rifle out for a hunt.

Build components:
Borden Alpine single shot
Kreiger chambered in 6 Dasher .268 nk.
Manners T4
Jewell Trigger set @ 8oz.
Custom muzzle brake
Leupold M4 10X

Finally got a little snow to hunt in. My dog(chocolate lab) ranged the coyote at 485 yds. The coyote was chewing on a mouse. Dialed the scope. The coyote dropped at the shot. I raced over to give the mouse, mouth to mouse resuscitation. But alas, I was to late. HaHa. A 485 yd. shot makes me an <span style="font-weight: bold">absolute rookie</span> on this site. Hope you enjoy the picture. It was a fun hunt. Shooting an 87 V-max at 2950 fps.

That is a nice looking yote color wise! Poor dog is feelin left out and 3rd fiddle to the new rifle and yote in the pic! LOL

Nice poke. Longest for me so far this year is 467 with my XC. In fact I have only shot 4, closest was 342, next at 441, 467 and a real nice standing leaning against Uncle's 4 wheeler rollcage at 400+.

Them long pokes make you feel pretty cocky. Wished it was easier to forget the 100yd broadside standing shots that seem to occur out of nowhere!!!!!

Nice looking dog too. I wouldn't call coyotes pushing 500 yds rookie work. I have missed alot of coyotes alot closer than that. Bastards coming in hot are hard to hit at any range. I missed one at 10 yards at full speed with a shotgun. Came in behind us and ran between me and my dad who was 5 yds away. That memory beats all my kills. Nice gun too, single shot with 8 oz trigger is an interesting coyote rig.

Sounds like you've made some great shots this winter. My longest shot this winter is 580 yds. A lot of luck was involved ln that shot as the coyote was bedded at the time. Just not his day. Long range coyote hunting is my real passion. Anybody else have some good hunts to share?

That is a big coyote compared to the scrawny little things we have in Oklahoma. Nice rig too.

Might just be the picture but that coyote looks HUGE! Good kill, coyotes are probably my favorite hunt.

Hey guys,

It's just the angle of the camera. It looks way bigger than it really was. Probably weighted 25 lbs. It did have a nice coat for this late in the year. I just thought it was a nice field pic., and a fun hunt. Nice way to break in the new stick.

I was gonna say that looks like a wolf... then I noticed you were from Idaho and thought there was even more of a chance it was.. haha I hope not but either way beautiful animal.

Nice shooting on the biggest coyote I've ever seen! Nice rig and nice chocolate lab!

We have coyotes that have invaded the town limits here since nobody is allowed to hunt the deer that are out of control. I haven't seen one with my own eyes yet but neighborhood pets are starting to go missing.
