If you wanted to have an SR25 coated in a dark earth color to match a MK11 or M110 who would you use?

What other significant differences are there?

If it needed a little accuracy tuneup who would you use?

what i want to know is what is the big thing with replicating military rifles? I mean they aren't even the best out there just the "minimum" requirements to fulfill a need. I am building some guns but i would never replicate my work guns, i dislike too many things about them.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Remember back when you were a kid. If your favorite action hero had or used a certain item, then there was a desire to acquire that item. It's the same with guns and adults. Many look at our Marines, Sailors, Soldiers and Airman as Heroes. It's only natural to want to replicate the tools they use in order to capture some of that magic.

For former military it's a little different. I have several rifles, pistols and shotguns that are setup to accomplish certain tasks. They don't look a whole lot like their "issued" counterparts because I set them up to better accomplish their task based on my budget and specific requirements. I still seek to acquire several of my "issued" tools because I have memories of the times when they were in my hand. Some were good, some were bad, but all were earned and bear remembering. Somehow holding the weapon converts those memories to steel and fiberglass or aluminum and plastic. I am almost done with my AR15A2 and I am about 3/4 of the way to completing my M40A1. One day I will end up with a M9 even though I think they are total trash.

The rest of the Military arms (M1, 1903, M1A, etc) I want just because they are American heritage.

To each his own, but if the OP wants to paint his SR25, who cares? I though the M110's looked pretty cool since black sucks for anything other than showing off. When my AR10 is done and running like she should she will get the same Krylon treatment my 700 got.

true enough, i guess thats as good a reason as any. i guess since i still have my work guns i'm not as quick to paint my personal or change them to imitate, i guess once i get out we'll see what my gun safe holds, lol.

Yep--do most of my shooting with my AI and my 22LR trainer... That doesn't keep me from having Army-type military rifles in my safe to share with my son someday. One of my most treasured heirlooms is the POS Arisaka that my grandfather brought back from WWII that he taught me to shoot and handle recoil with.
