The Mammoth Sniper Challenge is a 3-day team precision rifle competition held at Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, Kentucky. This event will offer unique opportunities to test your skill with a rifle and compete for prizes and bragging rights. The match will consist of:

- 2-person teams competing for a combined score
- 6 main stages of fire
- Bonus and side matches
- Scenario-based stages
- Shooting in the natural terrain
- <span style="font-weight: bold">New challenge in the "Tough Man Team" Division with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place</span>

<span style="font-size: 11pt"><span style="font-weight: bold">Registration</span>:</span>

- Registration will open on September 15, 2011.
- Match fee is $400 <span style="font-weight: bold">per team</span> and includes a sponsored dinner Saturday night.
- Match will be capped at 60 teams, so get your registration form is ASAP.

The match website is up with all of the latest details, so please check it out and read through the match description, rules, etc. The main difference from the July match is that teams will designate their primary and secondary shooters up front and competitors will shoot in that role for the entire match.

We are working on getting our sponsors lined up and hope to have a great prize table. Thanks again to all of the companies that sponsored our last two matches.

Question-
Does the tough guy division primary weapon have to be .223, .308 or 300WinMag? Or is it any cartridge up to 300WinMag? I.e. 260Rem OK in that division? It sounds like 260Rem is OK for the regular division but a NO GO for Tough Guy, but I wanted to confirm. Thanks.

Hi James,

Tough Man Division primary weapon is .223, .308 or .300WM only. And secondary is .223 or .308 only.

In the Regular Division, primary can be any caliber between .223 and .300WM and secondary can be any caliber between .223 and .308. So in that division you could shoot .243, .260, 6.5, etc.

I've been talking with Joe about this match and the Individual Division counted towards the PRSS Points Race and have opened up as a PRSS Event, it will have a participation minimum to ensure fairness across the board with respect to other events.

So all you guys interested in shooting the PRSS but may have not of had a match close to you..... here is another chance at one that is East of the Mississippi. Thanks for the interest. and I hope we get alot of Participation from this Event. Registration will open Oct. 1 for the PRSS and I will post back here with complete website details, Rules, match Events, Etc.

I would like to do the tough man portion of this but I dont want to build a rifle in 300. Is the caliber a feeler or is it set in stone?

The match will be a points series match. Just got off the phone with Rich. It will be updated on the match website by Monday. More details will be coming out shortly. We are gonna have to have at least 20 individual shooters that are in the points series for the scores to count.

Todd, if there is a large of amount of shooters that want to do the tough man then we may change the caliber restrictions for it. I will make my final decision on the caliber restriction for the tough man by September 10th before registration starts. Have to know there is alot of interest in the division to make the change.

that is fair with me. If I am the only one then Ill just shoot reg team. I thought about building a 300 but that is too much trouble. I suck too bad to shoot the 308.

Todd, you wouldn't be the only one. There are alot of teams that are gonna do the tough man. Just gonna base the decision on how many more would do it with the caliber restritions lifted to 300WM and below.

Definitely in for the individual portion if PRSS. Would need a partner if not. Thinking the 3 mile walk between stages wouldn't be that bad. It seems like it would be more of a gear test than a personal test. It's not like it will be hot ; )

Joe, sounds fun

I'm fuzzy on how the divisions and classes will work with respect to place and prize table.

Specifically, the way I read the rules, it appears everyone shoots same course of fire, and the only difference is individuals shoot the primary targets only while teams shoot an additional 40 targets. So, assuming you're still scoring the same way you scored the last two mammoths, team scores will be significantly more points than individual scores. And presumably, teams will have more time than individuals.

So theoretical example: top individual gets 40 out of 60 points, while the top twenty teams score more than 40 out of a possible 100 points. Will the individual be the 21st to go to the table?

or will there be 5 tables for "team open", "team 308/223", "tough 308", "individual open", "individual 308/223" ?

Also, for the PRSS, you have to shoot "individual" to get PRSS points? and since that works on a % of the winning score, it's compared to the top individual score, not the highest score (which will presumably be team), right?

Don't read into it to much.

Gonna be be 2 prize tables. One for the team competitors and one for the individual.

Everyone runs the same course of fire except the individuals only shoot the primary targets.

The individual scores will only be against other individuals. Team scores against team scores. There is no separation for the tough man division, they are shooting for an additional cash payout. It is possible for the top tough man team to win the cash payout and also win the team side of the match and go to the prize table first.

Looks like its going to be a walkabout on this one. I sure will miss the Ranger to haul all my gear around. I hope the caliber restrictions are dropped since Jon or I don't have a 300 win mag unless we can come up with one. We will be there for sure. I may have to get Jon to carry me part of the way but it sounds like a challenge that we can handle.

We are looking to take top team this time and the money. Show me the money!!!

Im a fan of the caliber restrictions on the Tough Man division. Adds an additional level of difficulty and levels the playing field a bit for guys who dont have 243s moving a the speed of light.

I know not many have a 300, but almost all have a 308.

wanna thank the MD's for structuring scoring for Individuals. and they're interest in the PRSS.
We would need a minimum of 25 individuals to count towards PRSS points, and would prefer 30 or more but I'll give a little slack to get a Eastern Event in the mix. If we can't get the interest this time we will try again in July. we'll see what the sign up brings.

We are working on the individual fee this week. We are trying to make it less than the team fee. Trying to be fair for the solo shooters as well as the teams.

Want to make this a good event for the prss series so I am trying to work it out for the individuals.

Will be put up before the 15th registration date for sure.

Maybe some of us dont have a 300 Wm OR 308 and dont want to put a 223 up against a 300. That would be like racing a Ford Escort against a Corvette in a drag race.

I personally don't want to, or have the extra cash laying around to build a rifle just for this match, but would like to shoot the TM.

The rules are up to the match director..

Ya it was unclear on the reg form, as you had the different competitor choices, but it listed only the 400 dollar fee at the bottom.

Guys I am looking for feedback on the caliber restriction for the tough man division. I am debating on letting a few other calibers in the division.

Please send me an email at [email protected]. We are heading out for the Ozark 3 gun tonight and I won't be on a computer very much until we get back. The decision will be made no later than Monday the 12th. Let's keep the feedback on track and send me your thoughts.

The division is looking very large at this time, but if there is enough interest, I may let a few more calibers in.
