I'm super fucking thankful I took the time to learn a bit about electronics.
Relays, transistors, ICs, transformers, caps, etc. Doubly so for some common circuits like amps, h-bridges, voltage dividers, rectifiers, and the like. Soldering, as well, through-hole and surface mount.
That was a hard path to go down on my own, and pretty expensive, too, but holy shit those skills come in handy all the time.
Of course, combining programming, electronics, and mechanics all at the same time is just about the coolest fucking shit ever.
Always fun to fuck with the co-workers.
