In the next year I am planning on building a new rifle. I’m pretty set on a Manners T4A or TF4A. But I have a few questions from the guys that actually have them and used them for more than a year:

First, the folding option seems great but how often do you actually use it?

Secound, do you use the folding option enough to justify the added cost?

Third, knowing what you know would you add the folding option again or would you just go with the fixed stock?

It is

I use it every time someone asks me how it works.

No I do not, and that is without even mentioning the weight, complexity, and possible failure point issues. The only place I see a need is for someone who needs to pack a rifle without looking like they are packing a rifle.

Traveling in a smaller case, storing when height is an issue especially if suppressor is left on, and packing into the woods on the back of a pack to keep the height down for catching on stuff. Those are the reasons I think of for folders. Own both folders and non folders and the weight isn't an issue for the few conveniences it offers.

Hahahah great points

Every time I clean my rifle so I don't have to adjust the cheek riser.
This and any time I transport it. It's nice to have but if you're on a budget I would not spend extra funds here.

I actually prefer a stock pack over an adjustable cheek piece but I have to remove the pack to clean the rifle and that gets old. The folder would eliminate that.

I use the folder when I clean so I don't have to adjust my cheek piece. I have the TF3A.

I think if someone needs a folder the Manners is a great design. Locks up nice and tight and no wiggle and will lock closed as well. I have used mine on a few barreled actions from my .22LR Vudoo to a .308. It's on my .308 now. Do I need it? Probably not but nice to have a stock with the option if I did. If you don;t think you neeed it then save the money and get a fixed Manners with mini chassis.
