Hey All,

I just got back from vacation and found my Manners T-5a sitting on my doorstep, so understandably I was psyched. This is the first time using their MCS-DBM for me.

I popped my 700 5R (.308)out of its stock and dropped it in the Manners. To my surprise (and a little disappointment)the rear tang area will not seat flush with the stock surface.

I have a Timney 510 in there, and I'm thinking that is the source of the issue. I thought at 1st it was the trigger weight screw...so I dialed that inward (for clearance). No dice. Upon inspection it looks like a little portion of the trigger is assembly (under that weight adjustment screw) is getting chipped up a bit.

I'm not sure what it is hitting...and don't know how to fix it!
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what did you do to mitigate.

I think it is more painful to look at your rifle 99% installed in a Manners than it is to wait the 18 weeks

The thing is,I'm not seeing where it hits,at least on the chassis
So I'm a little anxious about getting in there with a dremel.

I was hoping that this was something other's have seen before and knew exactly what needed adjustment.

Cproflow,

I can take a few pictures of what needs to be inletted on a Mini Chassis with a Rem 700 and the Timney 510 series trigger.

For the rear tang of the stock, Manners Mini-Chassis use a floating rear tang design. The front action screw should be torqued to 65 In Lbs while the rear screw needs 45 In Lbs. There is no way to make one chassis work with just about every action, so its really the only way to accomplish what the mini chassis can.

You should be fine accuracy wise.

Hi Cproflow, If you are running the timney trigger the chassis will need to be trimed for the front of the tiggger adj-screw. This is very easy to do, if we know ahead of time that a customer is going to be running the timney we will make the cut before it ships. Send me a PM with your contact we can turn it around the same day and get you taken care of.

On the rear tang - The mini chassis did just what it was supposed to do, any V block chassis will do this. The MCS-mini chassis is a V block design system, which in our opinion is the best design to fit the original purpose of the mini chassis. The original purpose of the mini chassis was to develop a high end drop in and go DBM system for a tactical/hunting stock with ability to be used with a wide varity of actions that did not require bedding. The key word here is “ wide Varity of actions”. This was the hardest part of the design. . Even actions from the same manufacture will not always be of the same diameter, shape, or even straight. To correct some of this difference, we designed the chassis so that it actually contacts the action in about five different points. First - the back of the lug area, Second/Third - about 1” contact on both sides of the action from the lug area backward, Fourth/Fifth – both sides of the tang area from the back action screw forward. The complete tang does not float only the very tip of the tang. The reasons that the bottom of the action and the tip of the tang float, is that not all actions are the same diameter and we want to make sure that the action is draw down and centered in the chassis. I would much rather have the action setting centered in a V block than one that is rocking side to side on the bottom of the action. Thank you very much,

Thanks so much Tom (& M. Gordon!) for the quick and thoughtful replies. I'll send you a PM or call you today for next steps.

I'm pretty sure customer service doesn't get any better than that!

Just a quick follow up to close the thread.

I spoke with Tom, and he was incredibly accommodating and understanding. I shipped off the stock, they turned it around in 1 day, shipped it back to me. The work they did looks tight and clean (and something I could not have done half as well). All done for free.

Yet another satisfied customer!

Considering all the bad customer service we deal with in our daily lives (anyone ever heard of Comcast?), it is just a refreshing break to talk to someone who really does want you to be satisfied with their product and your experience with it.

Can't wait until my T4-CZ gets in to me (hopefully next week)
