Spotters Mark 4 spotting scope questions.

I recently bought this Mark 4 12-40×60 with TMR reticle used off the px. Around the objective ring there is a liquid seeping out, it has a blue hue, I was wondering if anyone has one that is experiencing the same thing. This is fairly new when looking up the serial so not sure if they changed something. When I called Leupold about it they said possibly clean it with some alcohol. Just curious if anyone else has seen this. I live in Florida it could've got hot at one point and made the sealant or whatever it is liquefy a bit.

It may have been cleaned for re sale. Crevasses holding dawn or some other blue liquid cleaner. If it’s water solvable, wet rag, dry rag. Sun dried. Then see.

Lol It definitely wasn't cleaned, it was so dusty when I got it, dust was coming off when I blew the lenses off to wipe them. I didn't think of that though.

Yea they do, I'm just wondering if it's normal I hate to have to send it in, Leupold definitely didn't discourage the warranty, I told them it's used and they said it doesn't matter.

I have the exact same model, it has indeed sat in a hot car from time to time, and no….nothing leaks from it and no, that’s not normal.

Warrant time w Leupold, I believe.

Is yours newer or older? It seems like they changed a few things on the newer ones, I read somewhere where Leupold completes some manufacturing in China on these spotters.

It’s about 2 years old and I have no info on any design or manf changes they may have had.

But do you really think blue liquid seeping from the optic is by design????

Send it back to them would be my rec.

Definitely not by design, just didn't know if anyone else with a newer model experienced the same thing.

I have an older model Mk4 with H32, but it's all smooth black rubber armor--when did Leuopold start using that "textured" rubber armor on the Mk4 body?

Not sure I've seen a few like this though.
