I just got my mk5 3.6-18x44 today and have an issue I'm uncertain of. The scope turret locks in at zero. I push the detent lock in to release it and start turning. At one revolution the detent becomes flush with the turret body but the top indicator button doesn't move from its original flush position. On the second revolution it doesn't make it all the way and stops at around the 17 mil mark. No third revolution. Is there something locked in at the factory or something? I am not going to force it beyond its stopping point at 17 mils.

Have you checked to see if the turrets were set closer to mechanical center and not at the bottom?
I think the factory setting is what your saying. I took off the turret and played with the center column screw and now have a full three turns. The top indicator button only has two positions though. Flush first two turns and proud the third turn. Maybe its supposed to be that way. I'll check some videos and see if that the case.
That scope is only supposed to have 29.1 mils of evaluation so that seems pretty normal to me. Have you zeroed the scope yet?
Just got it temporarily mounted. It was pre-adjusted near the top of its range. Got it fixed now. I am very impressed with this scope. I love the zero stop built into the turret cap. Super easy. I got it for my hunting rifle. I think it will be pretty awesome in that role.
The silver indicator button on top only protrudes on the third rev.
When locked on zero does your elevation turret line up appropriately? Mine locks in between 0 and the 10.5 hash. I contacted Leupold about it but I don't think they understood what I was saying because they said it was due to military request in order to be able to make shots at closer ranges than zero.

I could see what they are saying as that’s one of my favorite things about the Gen II Razor. The .5 mils below your actual zero. .1 doesn’t seem like enough though if they were trying to achieve what they are saying.
I can turn the knob down .5 mil past zero. But this is where my zero knob locks.
That makes no sense because the closer the target is the higher you adjust the turrets, for example with a 100Y zero, if you wanted to shoot at 10Y you would need to bring your turret setting up to around 3.5-4 mils.

You are able to turn past "0" by design. It is built so that if you travel to different elevations to shoot, you are able to turn down past your "0" to account for the slight environmental caused change in your zero.

Guys, I don't know how else to state that I understand you are able to turn down .5 mil from zero. What I'm saying is that is my turret locked in at what should be zero. Instead it locks in between the zero and 10.5 mil hash. My first click up goes to zero. No matter how I try to adjust the turret with the set screws this is where it locks in to 'zero'. Am I missing something really obvious here or what?

Leupold replaced two turrets for me because of the same issue. New turrets lined up perfect. What you are experiencing is not normal. Some of it has to do with one screw being tighter or more turned in when the other.

Thanks for the reassurance. I replied back to Leupold with a photo and an explanation that he wasn't understanding what I was saying and I haven't heard back. I'll probably have to call them.
Mine lines up fine. It allows .6 mil below zero. I really love its simplicity. I almost wish I ordered 2 on liberty's new years sale. Except I really wanted a 7-35 and I got a smokin deal on the ATACR. Now leupold just announced their own 7-35. I think the mark 5's would work great on multi cal rifles.
It looks to me like the turret markings or the zero mark on the scope body are off, you can send it back to see if they fix it or not.

That doesn’t work that way with a 100 yard zero, closer shots are hold overs not unders..

Im assuming military personnel don't zero their rifles at 100 yards. If that is the case then the .5 mil below zero could be helpful. They may zero at 300 yards. come down .5 mils and soldier would be good to point blank.
