Ok so some of the guys told me that they wanted me to post a review on the Marlin XT-22. So here it is. I went with the XT-22RZ which is the threaded model. I went with this one hoping to someday suppress it but that is beside the point here is the review.
1st impressions of this gun were very good. Nice solid feel to it, lightweight, and a pretty decent finish for a $200 rifle. I was really pleased when I got the gun. The reason I chose this instead of a Savage FV-SR was the stock. I can't see how anyone could get a decent cheek weld on their stock without replacing it. And a $100 dollar stock just wasn't in the budget at the time. The stock is nice I really like the palm swell and the grip/texturing, however the stock is still a factory stock. So I epoxied 6 carbon arrow shafts into the forend, free floated the barrel and bed the action and entire forend, which did stiffen the entire stock and made it a decent stock. I've added a rimfiretechnoligies 1 piece rail, weaver rings, a Mueller APV and a TacOps stock pack. I sponge painted the stock to sort of "ATACS urban" which actually turned out very well I thought! Here she is!
These groups where all shot at 50yds off a bipod and a rear bag. The Eley had the tightest group if you forget that one flier. These were the only ammos that I tested today.
This target was only shot with SK Standard Plus.
So all in all I think this is a great little rifle for around $200, accuracy could be a little better if you ask me (I like a one hole group) but it may need more rounds through it, maybe I haven't found its favorite ammo or maybe its is me. I'll get it together one of these days. I'll be shortening the barrel to 18"
(22" is just too long for my taste) the next week or so and will post another range report after that.
