Location: Mayberry Game Protective Association, Taneytown MD
Date & Time: Sunday July 21, 2013
Check In opens at 8:00 am.
Mandatory safety briefing 8:30 am.
Firing begins at completion of safety briefing


Entry Fee: $40 per shooter
New registration procedure this year, sign up using the link and bring payment the day of the match. Also note the new cancellation policy posted with the series details.
Open to the first 24 shooters, after the roster fills entries will be placed on a waiting list. The match is full, any shooter that missed registration email me and I'll add you to the wait list.


Equipment: Centerfire rifle capable of shooting 1 MOA.
Rifle scope with graduated reticle for ranging / hold over / hold off etc.
300 Win. Mag. Maximum Caliber Allowed
3100 fps Maximum Velocity
100 rounds match quality rifle ammunition
Eye and Ear protection
Empty Chamber Indicator flag (available for $3 if needed)
Anything you need to shoot with, but you must carry it for entire match.


Directions: From Westminster MD – Rt. 140 West to Mayberry Rd. Turn right on to
Mayberry Rd. follow for approx. 1.5 miles. Turn right at yellow sign for Mayberry Game Protective Association. Go past archery club and continue to game protective club.
From Taneytown MD – Rt. 140 East to Mayberry Rd. Turn left on to Mayberry Rd. follow for approx. 1.5 miles. Turn right at yellow sign for Mayberry Game Protective Association. Go past archery club and continue to game protective club.

And for you guys whose brains are still spinning from Josh's Hellbender math (did he have every measurement system known to man on that list ?!?!), there will be NO MATH required beyond having to count out 10 to 12 rds of ammunition.

I know these ranges are only but so big and the number of shooters has to be regulated for everything to work but damn. It looks like there is the draw, maybe there should be some other matches set up. Rayner's and TVP are a little far for most of the shooters that compete in these.

I think this is a legitimate issue.

Perhaps we could do something for the last two such as prioritizing registrations of those series competitors who haven't yet shot at the other club. Or pre-register them.

This - for those shooters who are legitimately competing in the series. I realize there are some who are just local shooters in both clubs.

Maybe next year it needs to be the 12 Sundays of sniping! Or make the whole series an annual one that runs at both ranges simultaneously. Just ideas but clearly the issue isn't getting people to sign up or show up. Any thoughts into trying to squeeze more people by making stages more speed friendly? I'm not trying to disrupt the integrity of the series merely make suggestions.

you should have received a pre-match briefing email from me. If you did not, please PM me and I will get you a copy. For the guys on the wait list, if you move into an active slot, I will make sure you get this briefing.

Your priority target

Shooters in M-D #4,

This is Smith. He is your priority target for this match. There will be other targets, but you will have to hit Smith at various sizes, speeds and ranges. That is all for now.

OK, moving on from the flea market to the point of this thread: mission-related information.

Shooters, here is a recommended supplemental gear list:

(1) Water. No heat casualties allowed, period. Bring 2 to 3 liters at least and drink it.
(2) Some type of writing utensil that you can use to mark your shooter number on rounds of your ammunition (i.e. Sharpie).
(3) Shooting mat. There will be at least one stage that you might want one, especially if you are hypoallergenic to dirt.
(4) Round count is 46 maximum and plan on shooting pretty darn close to all of that.

... and of course all the other stuff you usually bring (although you can safely leave your calculators at home; no math unless you need one to count out 12 rounds!)

Note the time of the safety brief: 0830. We will put first rounds down range at 0900. These are different timings than the New Holland events, so be aware of that. We will not wait if you are late.

When you arrive at the club, park in the parking lot next to the building with the picnic tables inside it (i.e. normal spot to park and wait). That is the assembly area for the match. Do not park, nor walk over to the range. We will do our safety brief and some other match related stuff at the assembly area and move over to the range as a group. Thanks.

That is a good question. The range is in great shape. We were out there on this past Sunday, after heavy rains. I was not optimistic, but the range was dry and nice and green with grass. The grass will all be freshly cut for you guys, think golf course-like. There was very little, if any, mud.

Josh K, I was at the range yesterday, it's very dry, with this heat you will be dealing with dust not mud.

Matt, thanks for reminding me, I'll collect the 10% commission that Tom owes the club for his last flea market.

And as far as mowed like a golf course, probably not, mowed like a field mowed by unskilled volunteer labor, likely.

Thanks for coming out. This was not a beginner's match as there wasn't an easy shot in the entire CoF. Not one. Plus the hot weather on top. So if you see a low percentage next to your name, note that the vast majority of shooters around would struggle to get any points. Plus you guys collected a lot of actionable intelligence on SSG Waldron's SALUTE report (the KIM stage).

I do have to point out that a key stage - Fire and Movement (25% of total points) - was absolutely smashed by the match winner, Cory. He had 117 points out of possible 120 - DAMN! Guys that timed out or malfunctioned out of this stage tended to have trouble making up the points elsewhere, given the lack of lay-ups.

I will email you guys a copy of the stage-by-stage scoresheet for your review. I will also try to get some photos posted.

Great match! Thank you and all of the range crew for holding such a fun event. Thank you Mike Pohuski for the water and Gatorade. I think all of the stages were fun and challenging both mentally and physically. I enjoyed that each stage was a unique scenario for me but not an impossible shot (previous experience not necessary). Now I have some new stuff that I need to practice. My only comment would be that I am not a huge fan of running but I will take over Josh's evil quantum physics calculations any day. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next match.
