As long as you can see the hole in the paper I watch people shoot a round, and then go to the spotting scope to see where they hit, back and forth and back and forth...

I also think there's a fine line between usable and total utter garbage. My Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50 worked well enough at the 20x to make out 22lr holes on paper at 100 yards, not really good enough clarity/zoom at 200 yards though. My Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x56 can make out little 22lr holes at 200 yards.

The Ares ETR is pretty decent, 200yards, 30x.

Gen 1.2, So gen 1 with the gen 2 turrets. Not sure how much changed in the gen 2.

my .02. i have/had 4 stike eagles 1-8 x2 (original release),3-18,4-24. i am not into FFP/mil at all. hard to get spf/moa in a good scope. sold the 3-18 & 4-24 (quickly went). sold because need the $ and i had a cr.tr. that wouldn't sell (why?). i compare the strike eagles as overall = to my midas HMR,which i find great bang for buck. found no prob with any of the 4. would happily have 2 i sold if need be. as said,all eyes are different and mine are really bad despite surgeries. i don't flog them hard and might not want them in afgan but for me at the range,they are just fine. vortex CS is outstanding if needed. no knowledge of match pro at all.

Those 3-18 and 4-24 are totally different scopes than the new 5-25x Strike Eagle. Only thing they really share in common is the name.
