Hi Frank. Enjoying the podcasts.

I heard you mention that the cerakote on your Mausingfield bolt was giving you fits. Did you get that corrected? LRI did mine as well in a darker color than yours and I've had no issues.

Which podcast does Frank talk about this, just curious as my mausingfield was cerkoted by LRI and has performed phenomenally so far. My only issue with it is a little bit hard to close on factory hornady 200gr eld x's but shoots them in tiny holes at 2800fps with low sd's. Any other ammo or handholds run clean and also shoot tiny groups.

I don't recall, would have to check. It was just a mention, not a 10 minute segment.

My experience has been great with mine as well.

This is why I still haven't had mine Cerakoted. I should just ship it to LRI and have them do it, as SCHMI said no issues with his. That and it looks slick in the white.

Not sure why anyone would Cerakote an action with all the superior coating options available now.

Agree and I wouldn't if I was buying one today. Three years ago the Mausingfield only came in the white and the DLC treatments were hit and miss (as understood by ARC and LRI); so cerakote it was for mine (Patriot Brown). No complaints, I'm having zero issues.

Cerakote is superior for material protection. It is very hard to beat there rust, corrosion, and durability.

I have one of the early Mausingfields prior to DLC which has no corrosion, rust protection. I have thought about sending mine Out for DLC, but keep getting told 2 months which I think is stupid. I should hit Ted up and see if I can get my action sent with a batch of there stuff.

My cerekoted mausingfield has no issues, I assume it is not as slick as a dlc’d Action, there is nothing to complain about either, it is way nicer than anything I have ever handled, but I have not handled many custom guns either

You can cerakote the outside and the bolt body but the lugs are the issues.

The rifle "shoots' fine, but the bolt lift is too heavy and it takes a lot away,

I would rather a different coating on the bolt, but dig cerakote on the outside.

You won't see an accuracy issue, but a running and gunning issue, as it pulls the rifle over

I stripped the Cerakote from (interior and exterior of) my TL-2's and sent them back to Bighorn for DLC treatment. Couldn't be happier. While Cerakote was on the actions, the NP-3 on the bolts seemed to be wearing prematurely and I think the Cerakote may have had something to do with it. I had though about making a mandrel to insert into the action that would effectively mask off the raceway and lugs when Cerakoting, but gave up on the idea, just didn't seem to be worth the bother. I will still Cerakote on external parts and barrels, just not on (internals) actions or bolts. DLC on the actions and NP-3 on the bolts seems to be the shizzle. Am I unhappy with Cerakote ? No. I just don't think it's a good match for action interiors or bolts.
