Maven RS.6 - 1-10X28 FFP

I have been wanting to review a few scopes from maven. I've reached out to them but have had no luck. This actually looks pretty good on paper. So does the rs1.2.
The Maven RS1.2, with the (per Rokslide -- I am still seeking verification) .1 MRAD thick SHR-MIL reticle, I submit is the ultimate sleeper SPR / DMR scope -- at least on paper and based on my preferences.

It's got everything but a locking elevation turret.but the reticle options look fantastic from a simple, easy to use standpoint. I also think they hit the nail on the head with the pricing. I am between that and the tract toric 2.5-15. both of them look incredible on paper.

Love your reviews. Just bought a Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x. I’ve been searching for a IPVO with a decent reticle for some time. Have been through numerous others. This is the Best reticle at 2.5X AND 15x that I’ve seen. Glass is sharp. Not too heavy. You can get any Maven scope on a 2 week free trial. American company with strong lifetime warranty. Please review the 2.5-15 and the 1-10x!!

If that doesn’t win you over, I’ll send you mine to review!

I have a review completed with it in fact. I just havent dropped it yet. Its a good scope. It has a lot of really nice things going for it. But I feel the overall design is a bit half baked. I wish the touch points all had the same knurling as the mag ring and turrets. I wish it had a locking turret. Or that the capped elevation option was also offered with illumination. I also wish the illumination didnt bleed out so much. The reticles I think are really nice. A good balance of practicality and usability for holding at distances. For the size and weight I think it too finds a good balance. But I also found that with the Tract Toric 2.5-15 that I bought second hand to put head to head against the RS1.2, performs, IMO, a little better overall.

Nice hands on review, if I may ask between the RS1.2 and the Tract Toric, what specific aspects made the Toric feel like the better overall performer was it the glass quality, turrets, reticle, or something else that stood out in practical use.

Because I love ya'll

Thank you sir, for this review. I watched it twice! I am interested to see your Tract Toric review when you finish it. Would love to see the head to head between the Maven and Toric as you mentioned. My concern with the Toric is reliability. Rockslide tested the Toric 3-18 and it failed pretty badly to return to zero after just some basic, lightweight abuse. Maven RS 1.2 held up to the same test. In addition, the people at Tract initially were proponents for the Rokslide drop test until their scope failed. Then they disavowed it. I would have hoped they would take the lessons learned from the failure and promise to improve their scope, but they chose not to.

I learned a lot from your Maven review and hope Maven did too. 👍

For me, the lack of a locking turret isn’t a deal breaker. I like that Maven is a well made reliable scope, love the reticle at 2.5X and 15x, love the eye box at 2.5X and 15x, love the knurling and the rev counter. Image is plenty sharp enough for what I do (mixture of hunting and shooting out to 800 yards). I like they are American, I can communicate with them and their warranty is rock solid, no questions asked policy.
Other than maybe trying a Meopta or paying 2.5 times more for a Nightforce, I don’t think there’s a better IPVO scope for the money than the Maven RS1.2. And I did get a 20% veterans discount - Maven uses GovX.

Slightly better glass (to my eye), better turrets, everything feels a touch better setup.

Thanks, yeah I like your reviews a lot!

Wow that Meopta 3-18 has such nice IQ. I suspected so because my Optika 6 5-30 does too. And I like that reticle as far as hunting goes. Kinda heavy but it is what it is. It was my favorite in your review.

Man it's too bad the Athlon Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50 wasn't available for comparison because it has a lot of good attributes. The turrets are almost unbelievable for the price, like as nice as the Cronus G2 turrets are except wider and lower profile! The action is even a bit firmer than the CG2 turrets so unlikely to get moved by accident.

.06 mil line thickness in that reticle in the G3 which still isn't easy to see on 2.5x but by 3.5x it's much easier to make out.

All these companies need to start putting daylight bright illume on their lower powered variables.

That is very interesting to hear it failed. Part of me believes that both of these scopes (tract & maven) are made in the same facility. But I do not have any proof of this. So there might be some merit to the failure. Funny how some companies will just turn cheek from one little mishap. The problem is anything can fail, at anytime, for any reason.

That is good to hear! I hope they do as well.

Yeah man I definitely feel you on the last front. My minor dealings with Maven have all been good. I want to see them succeed. But my reviews are going to highlight conerns I think some potential buyers might have. I hope they can focus on improving their lineup.

If the O6 5-30 had a capped windage turret it would be ontop of one of my rifles. Zero questions asked. Its an incredible value for money scope. I just cant accept the stupidiy with the turret setup. Some people would call me critical of it. But If something isnt as close to perfect as possible, I dont want it.

I had recently reached out to Athlon to get more information on their new gen stuff coming out. The person didnt know what I was asking about.... Very odd seeing as how much I push some of their products that they wouldnt at least give me an answer of what to expect this year.

Reticles across the board should be tweaked to make better use of their entire magnification range. Its such a shame when a scope is useless for 30% of what its capable of.

I feel the same.

Yeah the ZS system came loose in my O6 and jammed the turret so I removed it but the IQ is so good at this price level I kept the scope. I got tired of taking a beating selling my used scopes so I buy more guns to put them on or let em sit in the safe until I decide this scope would be better here than there.

The only thing I can guess is a recent employee?? I'll message you.

I try So hard not to have that problem. I think Id rather get beat up on selling a optic, then get yelled at by my wife for getting another rifle that will collect dust lolol

Shameless plug.

It's about time you bought a decent PCP air rifle to shoot with in your back yard. There's a bunch of them around that come with moderators on them and the sound of the pellet or slug hitting something is louder than the sound of the gun going off.

Also flat out great fun and even better for tuning in the ole shooting skills.

Just tell your wife it's hers and you borrow it whenever you want, lol. ;):p

It's what I use as soon as I get a new scope to test because these are cheap to sight in and fast to get a feel for how the scope is. I like to shoot airguns at long range. I have 140Y on my property and 300Y just off it. A few of my pcp's will group just over an inch with slugs at 100Y.

Don't be a bad influence!!! But you are absolutely right.... It would be great to tinker and practice with. I do have my airsoft gun. But I want a bit more reach.
