Want to get a suppressor for PRS shooting. Shooting a traditional PRS gun - heavy bolt action. Not so much a suppressor as much as something that will control muzzle flip so I can better spot my shots. Will not shoot with a brake which is what 90% of what PRS guys do. Already losing my hearing.

Anyway, considering Area 419 Maverick, ThunderBeast Magnus RR or HuxWrx Flow 762 for PRS. Don't like that the magnus is not modular (cannot change length or shoot w/ or w/o brake) so in that regard prefer the Maverick. Somebody I shoot with has a Flow 762 which he likes a lot and says that he can spot all of his shots with it (heavy PRS rifle & 6.5 CM).

Looking for comments from those who shoot PRS or have experiance w/ the listed suppresors.

If you are running an AR I would recommend the Huxwrx Flow. I have both the 762 Flow Ti and 556 Flow Ti. If a bolt gun look at the magnus or something along those lines. The flow through cans are great for gas mitigation on a semi but are not the quietest especially on a bolt gun.

My 6.5cm bolt gun has a SiCo break. I've shot it with the omega 300 and the flow 762 (just screwed the hub from the omega onto the hux) both group well. I can't realy hear which is quieter. (tinnitus) I ran the hux in a recent PRS and it was quiet enough that the shot timer had trouble registering shots. If the question was for a gas gun, then the hix or another flow through can 100%

I shot my first season of local PRS style matches going back and forth between an older OSS Flow 762 Ti and a larger diameter traditional baffle HUB compatible can that I used with an ECCO machine TBAC CB adapter to use that family of muzzle devices.

The OSS Flow 762 Ti is considerably louder - even with ears on, it's not close. Additionally, mine is getting up there in years and rounds, and the little passages seem to like to get all fouled up, and when enough of them get plugged, the can has a bark to it. Not at all a happy sound to come out of a can. It now serves backup duty, and gets ultrasonic cleaned after every range session. I have it back to sounding "just ok".

For your stated application, I would select the Area 419 or the TBAC without hesitation based on what's in stock from your vendor of choice, you'll love either of those cans for PRS style shooting. There's some nuance and some differences between the brake design of each, but either will work great on a heavy rifle.

If you just want a brake on the front with the RecoilX brake you can get a number of cans. I bought a Nomad Ti XC and put one on. If shooting it in matches being super quiet isn’t the biggest deal as you will be wearing ears with all the other people around you shooting brakes. A couple decibels here and there don’t matter. If you have other ARs to suppress the HuxWrx would be a good choice with the flow through ability. I used a B&T SRBS 762, which is also flow through, in a match and it worked fine. No issues staying on target with my .308 and cut down blast a lot.

I’ll say if you are buying one then check out Silencer Shop is you don’t already have a dealer. My first one from them in January took about 2 weeks from me ordering, doing all my prints at the kiosk, paperwork online and pics on my phone, getting the can to my dealer, certifying and then being approved 24 hours later. A pretty simple process.

Another one to look at is the kgm r30k, it has adjustable ports on the end so that you can use it to give direction to the recoil pulse. Personally I keep them all opened for the most recoil reduction when I shoot matches.
