What is the max bullet grain for the 223 1 in 7" twist 26"barrel. I see berger makes all the way up to 105 grain. Wondering how big people have tried and had success with, and if there is much benefit over 75 grains. I only have 600 yards here at the house to shoot also.

Re: max bullet grain for 223?

i have custom 115gr round nose 223 projectiles they are not match or for long range. the heaviest match projectile is the 90gr MatchKings and they shoot realy well but if the barrel is shorter than 20" the 75-77gr projectiles will be your best option and they will get you to 600 yards. the 75gr A MAx can be trickey to get to work in an ar mag but the hornady 75gr HPBT is awsome and shoots well as does the 77ge sierra matchkings try them with H4895 in shorter barreled rifles with remington primers it is a great combo in a longer barrel or single shot the 75's to 90's loaded out to long for the mag work realy well with Varget and the above combos.
