Re: MAY 2010 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

shot a quickie b-4 the memorial day festivities. 1st time shooting the 25 yard match (25 yards seemingly being the most shot short distance match), i should have took more time shooting it...

86 degrees, 5 mph wind, sunny

Match: 25Y-4P
Class: S
Rifle: Savage MKII F
Caliber: .22LR
Ammo: Federal bulk
TLB: 40-0x (offhand)
TRB: 30-0x (kneeling)
CB: 44-1x (sitting)
LLB: 48-2x (prone - unsupported)
LRB: 49-2x (prone - bipod)
Total Score: 211-5x

as in the 50 yard match, kneeling continues to be my weak link.

Re: MAY 2010 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

I know the day isn't over, however I don't think anyone shot the 50Y-4P match this month.

I do think the 25Y-4P is more convenient to shoot and with the
better weather these days along with all the other types of shooting most of us do, this little 25Y-4P is a good little short range tester to shoot, and a good discipline builder for all age groups. I'll admit, it's one of my favorites.

Re: MAY 2010 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

If I move over 30 feet on the concrete I can see the 50 yard target backer.
But shooting is much more comfey with a pad on a bed of 2" screened gravel.

Re: MAY 2010 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

IT MAY BE A LITTLE EARLY TO POST UP FINAL RESULTS, IF THERE IS A LATER SCORE POSTED, THE STANDINGS WILL BE ADJUSTED.

Thanks to all that participated this month, and your input in the learnings thread. Looking at the different styles of rifles and ammos being used both in the short range and long range matches and the tips and tricks shared, it's turning out to be a good source of information. Thanks to JOE MARTIN for starting it last year.

CLODHOPPER swept A and S classes with a score of 240 - 10x and 245 - 10x, respectively.

We gained another shooter this month, a big welcome to FAT KID. Hope to get a few more in June, along with a return from the new shooters from April. No 50 yarders were shot, appears 25 yards may turn into the norm.

Looks like the short range competitions would be great exercize for all those rimfire AR's and such out there and Close Quarter styled shooting. Where's the "black" rimfires at?

Re: MAY 2010 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

yeah i seen that, how does everyone else feel about doing a weak side match?

JOE MARTIN, what do you think?

basically the same match, but shot opposite hold (weak side). so if you shoot rightie, do a match leftie, and visa versa. would probably be pretty interesting to say the least.
