I recently bought a used 338LM rifle based on a McMillan A5 stock w/ thumb wheel adjustable cheek piece. First time I shoot it, I find the cheek was loose. I was not too disturbed and figured I would simply tighten the anchor screws when I got off the range.
No joy. The cheek piece anchors were loose inside the stock... as in not anchored at all. Part of the problem was the stock is a lightweight stock so its not a solid stock to simply glue back into. A floppy cheek piece is not really what I was looking for, so I called around to see what I might do to fix the darn thing.
long story short I eventually called Dick Davis at McMillan to ask if they could fix it, how long it would take, and what it would cost. Dick said yes, we'll fix it FOR NOTHING, and Ship it back to you at our expense. Total turn around time including shipping was 10 days. Its back in the safe as we speak.
THANK YOU DICK DAVIS AND MCMMILLAN YOU ROCK!!!! Good custom service is worth its weight in gold.
