So i have been wanting to purchase a B&C a2 stock for a while and after reading and looking at many forums I have been leaning towards a Mcmillan.

I have some amateur question though, sorry. The info i have read it seems like they are not aluminium bedded that they are fiberglass bedded. Does that still allow a free float? Is there additional bedding needed? And would a Remington sps tactical drop in?

Also i was wondering the real differrence between the a2,a3,a4, and a5.

Thanks for any info

No, Mcmillan stocks do not have an aluminum bedding block. Mcmillan claims there stocks do not necessarily need to be bedded, i had good results before bedding and better results after with mine. And yes, Mcmillan stocks offer free float givin the stock is inletted to the proper contour of your barrel. Check www.mcmfamily.com for more info on there stock variations.

Check out their website like mentioned above or visit JW Precision (site vendor) and order away. Tell them what you want and they will make it. Unless John has one on hand be ready to wait 4-5 months or find a used one.

I put an HTG from JW Precision on my wifes .308 SPS-T and it was perfect. Just request to have the aluminum pillars installed when it's made and then when you get the stock bed it (or have it bedded) with Devcon steel putty or simular.

Custom ordered, pillar bedded, drop in. All you need to do is ask and it will be done.

Thanks guys, I went ahead a placed an order from midway usa today for an A2 for my remmy sps tactical. It said it fit a short action heavy varmint barrel contour so hopefully it fits correctly! They told me i would have it in less then 90 days, so will see.

The heavy varmint is bigger than what you need for the barrel inlet. It will work, it will just have a bigger gap around the barrel.

Here is a post from another thread showing the gap you can expect.

Dang I wish I would have seen this yesterday. I would have recommended you buy from JW Precision. Ordered mine from John an had the stock in my hand less than 24 hrs later. Good luck with the A-2.
