Gunsmithing Mcmillan wait time

Re: Mcmillan wait time

This past winter, McM told me 3 months. The stock was at my door in 2 months. All of a sudden there was a stock in the door. Manners told me 15 weeks and my stock showed up 15 to the day. Seems like both places have their lead times figured out pretty well.

Re: Mcmillan wait time

McMillans wait times can change from one day to the next due to demand. The best way to find out is that you call them when you are ready to order, and ask them directly for an accurate answer to your question. BTW, on the comment of lesser quality, and service from McMillan, I have to say that I have not ever experienced any of that. Both Manners and McMillan have always been accurate with their wait times, and great customer service. Ryan will get on the phone at McMillans, as will Tom at Manners if you really want to talk to either, but remember, they are extremely busy leading their operations, and that's why they have employees taking orders for them.

Re: Mcmillan wait time

I've gotten stocks from both and lead time were darn close to what they told me when I ordered them to time of shipment. Nobody likes the wait time, but that's what happens when people make a good product and the demand is there.

Yup ... that's what they told me too.

YOU GUYS ARE BUYING TOO MANY STOCKS!!!

Re: Mcmillan wait time

McMillan's quality and service are outstanding. I have no experience with Manners other than shooting friend's rifles who own their stocks. I just had McMillan fix an issue on a new stock that was not their fault. I emailed Ryan and sent the stock in and they had it repaired in under a week. Again, the issue was not something that had to due with anything they did yet they fixed it free of charge and shipped it on their dime.

That puts Tac284 at 13 weeks into an order.
I ordered one the week after, putting me 12 weeks into one.

So 14-16 weeks is probably the most current guess.
And I'm not complaining. While it would be nice to get them quicker, they're worth the wait.
My experience with their C/S has been nothing but positive.

Re: Mcmillan wait time

I agree certain stocks get made more than others. Would make sense anyways. So an A5 might take less time than my BigMac I have on order

I was quoted 4 months on the BigMac. A less popular stock I'd assume.

Mcmillan has been GREAT to us. They're no less than perfect in their customer service. They remember our names, previous orders, projects we have going on... wow!

They might just be the best company we get to do business with.
Them, Bugholes(southern precision rifles), and Midway/Brownells... FLAWLESS customer service to us.

Re: Mcmillan wait time

Hey Guys, Brand new to the site. Been reading for years, didnt have anything to contribute worthwhile. But will say that my manners T3 for a win. 70 took 6 months to the day. Great stock, but longass wait. Best, A.

Re: Mcmillan wait time

They told me today a minimum of 4 months more. I ordered three months ago. That will make 7 months total. I can`t understand why it would take that long to have a stock made. It`s a Big Mac for the 50. So nothing extreme but that is ridiculous. I believe I`m going to cancel and go different route. No sense in taking that long.

Re: Mcmillan wait time

I'm enduring my first McM experience at the moment. I bought a McM from a fellow member with what looked like a scatch. Turned out to be a big crack. I sent it to McM and they said it was unrepairable and would have to be replaced. I said that's fine, could you make me another exactly like it while you're at it and if shipped together I'll cover the shipping. They were fine with that too. That was April. I guess they piggy backed my warranty stock in with the new stock order instead of the other way around. (which I was hoping) Seems like a long time to wait for warranty work though. I'm hoping to see it by the middle of next month. (The member did offer to take it back and refund my money. I figured if I had to wait for a stock anyway it didn't really matter as long as they would warranty it.) I was hoping that the warranty would be faster than waiting for a new one though. Not really complaining, just my experience with them so far. I've generally done business with Manners or AI in the past and never had a bad experience with them. We'll see how this one turns out.

Perhaps I should call and find out if they have extended my wait time. That would not be cool. Large manufacturers have a pretty good handle on their production rates. If they have extended your wait time to twice what was originally stated then they are letting lots of others jump the cue. I appreciate the need to take care of your big customers, but it still frosts my butt when that shit happens.
