I have commented on several post over the last month or so praising the XLR evolution chassis. While I still love the Xlr I am very impressed with the Mcree as well. I purchased an Sps Aac-sd 16.5" .223 a couple weeks ago and was about to order an XLR for it. In the meantime a good deal on the Mcree came up in the classifieds so I decided to give it a try. It is a very comfortable and robust chassis. So for anyone on the fence about going with an XLR or a Mcree....... That is one tough choice. I have a Mcree for my savage lrp in .260 I absolutely love the stock I adjusted it to fit me perfectly. I was at thunder valley last week and the gun/stock performed flawlessly. No experience with the xlr but would no hesitate to buy a Mcree

Well thanks for not helping ;)

Did you ever have an XLR to compare? I was going to ask about the weight/balance difference between the two for offhand shooting.

on a 24" with a can, my balance point it 3" in front off the mag... i looked at the XLR, but at the time, it would have forced me to change my rings, and change or mod the scope rail... not a fan of either of those..

i now have 2 mcrees, a savage and 700

I was also on the fence between the two. The fact that I had the McRees in hand 5 days later was icing on the cake. I also like that I wasn't forced to change rings. It's one excellent piece of kit and I will own another, if the need arises.

I still have 2 XLRs along with this new Mcree. For me the Mcree feels better for offhand shooting but it does "feel" considerably heavier than the XLR. Conversely the XLR "feels better" to me for prone. I would be very happy with either.
