MDT ACC Forend recess

Gentleman, I believe I read somewhere in the past that the recess machined into the bottom of the forend was to possibly add some sort of grip tape to reduce recoil by greater interference between stock and bag? Anyone doing this, or have any feedback on its worth?

I believe there is a video on the MDT youtube channel of them laying the tape inside that recess. I havent actually done it Im strongly considering it as well. As to what sort of grip tape i have no idea. I wonder if something like Armageddon Gear uses on the Sticky gamechangers could be available?

I got no MDT, but Talon Grip Tape panels can be cut to size and with a heat gun they stay put very well and are thin. I put some on my Manners stocks to grip bags a little better.

Grip tape / anti-skid not so much the problem, mostly wondering if the juice was worth the squeeze?
Hope to get out this week, see how it goes when running the 308. Looks like it could be hard on waxed canvas?

Avoid any abrasive grip tape--get the rubber stuff that doesn't rip up fabric.
