I'm in the process of building a "light weight" hunting rifle on a MDT LSS chassis. I understand chassis and light weight don't really go together. I love the look of them, and for the money its a very versatile stock with many options for adjustable stocks. I have all the parts picked out and now I'm stuck on the grip of all things. I have been counting ounces on every part, and now I'm doing the same for the grip.

As of now the options are the MDT Vertical adjustable grip, Anarchy Outdoor Penguin grip, and Hogue 15 degree Vertical grip. I cant find a weight for the MDT grip, but I have to assume it is around 5+ oz considering it has a machined core with plastic grips that attach to it. The Anarchy Outdoor grip is 4.5 oz, and the Hogue is only 1.5 oz.

Initial reaction is to go with Hogue since its super light, and least expensive. However it looks cheap compared to the others, and it may not be as functional as the other true vertical grips. Seems to get good reviews online, but I can only find applications on AR platforms and not bolt rifles. The Anarchy Outdoor grip looks interesting and very functional. I cant find many reviews from people who have used it. Lastly the MDT grip. I know people who use it and like it alot, but its going to be ounces heavier than the rest.

I know MPA makes a good grip, but im not a fan of it when installed on a MDT chassis.

Thanks for your help and advice.

The weight on the MDT grip is less than 3 oz. But if you want very light weight pistol grips try Venom Defense and Design. Also Brigrand Arms makes a carbon fiber pistol grip that weighs 1.75 oz. Finally, I just saw a company named Davidson Defense and they make an aluminum pistol grip that weighs 1.50 oz (at least thats what weight they advertise) and costs $40.
