Mexican Hand Sanitizer

Wife had some hand sanitizer that she says reeks. Says it smells like some nasty mexican crap. Of course something smells bad and my reaction is Let me smell... it's tequila! Brought back decades old memories of spinning head and puke! I've noticed rubbing alcohol for cleaning is unobtainuim. So they're making sanitizer out of tequila now? I hate gin, but I'd rather a gin smell to my hand sanitizer. Thinking about putting a worm in this bottle of hand sanitizer.

My wife has some like that too. Reminds me of putting my foot on the floor while laying in bed trying to stop the room from spinning. Brings back that nasty drunk from high school that makes you avoid a drink for life.

Mexican sanitizers are being pulled because of the high methanol content, which is not good for you.

I had to look that one up, since I'm weak in biochemistry:

"It is also produced by the partial oxidation of ethanol by the liver enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase and is a contributing cause of hangover after alcohol consumption."

OK, that explains why tequila is evil. Or at least the shitty stuff is.

As a side note, a buddy dropped off a bunch of "low VOC" brake cleaner a while back that had an odor he simply could not tolerate. It did indeed smell like shitty tequila, and he'd had way too much of that back in his college drinking days.
