3 sides to every story ..
While I don’t doubt that woman sucked, I have never been in any non “historical or political” discussion where the bombing of Japan came up.
I think you might have been reading the room wrong at times and been in conversation that you shouldn’t be having anyway..knowing the stark differences in opinion that are out there.
First rule..never talk politics or religion, we’ve all heard that before.
Now if she just burst on the scene after getting off the egg line and asked what do you think about how WW2 ended in the pacific..she’s a bitch ..and you should have said..how’s the eggs..
But that’s just me
She is a bitch. She was a bitch and more than likely she is a bitch to this day.
Every miserable event was literally started or made far worse by this woman. Changing the subject was pointless, she would not on her best day, just drop it. The good news????? She only eats on the starboard side of the boat. What luck!! So we had the port side of the galley to ourselves.
While having dinner in the fancy sit down restaurant, she used her napkin and water glass to sit washing her feet. This is a woman with a Phd and she thought that was perfectly acceptable.
She started arguing on day one because the step counter on my phone showed I had walked farther than her husband and she thought that wasn't possible because her husband (who is 15 years younger) was taller and should have walked farther or some such shit. The highlight of the age difference was a couple sitting next to them on a tour bus asked if she was his mom. hahahahahaha
Yeah, we all know the rules about religion and politics. Everyone but this bitch. She opened dinner conversation on about day three asking my wife if she believed in God? I strongly suggested a new topic to no avail. My wife was polite but this bitch would not drop it.
We had one 24 hours stretch at sea that included a night ride thru a mild storm. Hence the time spent watching the ships TV. Found a show on Paul Tibbets and watched it. Next morning at breakfast, before the tour of the day, got asked what we did for the evening. Sadly I replied. We watched the storms and caught a documentary on the tube them went to bed. This bitches head exploded. Apparently, she thought Harry Truman was stupid and the worst president ever. Who knew? Well honestly, who gives a shit?
So here we are over 18 months later. We don't have to go back and still will not travel with these people. If we ever cruise again, it will be on a different line. The primary reason for the trip was to take a cruise with people who had done this before and see how it works. Food was still good, staff was still helpful and the ship was clean.
If we do this again, will we use Viking? Probably not. My wife disliked the dead ship environment. Entertainment consisted of a geriatric lecture typically from some snide Brit who kept slipping snitty comments about hunting, gun owners or Americans into their bland lifeless lectures. Some 1980's British talent show hacks performing their lame 1980's acts filled in the gaps. The only store on the boat did not sell Motrin or any headache tablet, if you needed something you hunted it down on shore.
You can only play Scrabble and listen to the cellist drone along for so long. When you have your fill of that excitement, then you can go to the bow lounge and drink coffee while looking for the one seabird in 40 sq miles.
This is a thread that does not seem to want to die. Wow.
