Not sure if this is the right spot for this, here it goes anyways moderators move it if you see fit. I live near Flint, MI I know there are a few shooters on the Hide from this area. where does everyone shoot at, right now I have access to a couple farms but I am always worried about where the bullets may be going even though I try to shoot downhill into a hill. Also there are some state and private run ranges open to the public, but nothing over 200 yds. really Alpena and Alma have 500yd ranges but membership is required. Last but not least I have made a couple runs to Thunder Valley in Oh. and also Rayners (never been to rayners, just heard of it) anyhow shout out some ideas if you have some locations that are public.
p.s. is Federal land open like in the western states?

That is where the yakity takes place for lacal shoots, there sure isnt much for being called the Sportsmans Paradise. Farms, and what little worth while public land there is to shoot at. For distance, if you know someone, you can sometimes get into Camp Grayling, otherwise the only range with distance is Youngs in IN. Niether are free or open to the public. Its a sad state of affairs.

You have a 500 meter range at South Kent neer Dorr MI. Not sure about the east side of the state, avoid it like the plague.

Midland County Sportsman's Club has open shooting on our 600 yard range for non-menbers on Tuesday nights. Cost ya $5.00 to shoot, we do have some strict rules to follow. Brad or Jim are there by 5:30pm, you'll get a chance to shoot at least one relay.

On weekends when there is a Long Range match at Camp Grayling they hold a practice session on Friday nights after the range is set up. You don't have to "know" anyone, just be a member of MRPA. Contact Dick Pardini for more info
