I would like to know what your experience has been with your AR that was built by either one of these companies. If you have owned both then what do you think of one vs the other? What kind of accuracy are you getting and with what load?

I would also like to see pictures of your setup if you don't mind sharing.

Thanks,
Steven

Re: Mid-South Tactical Network VS JP Enterprises

I have a MSTN AR15 that I have shot in 3-gun for several years. It has always run. Wes is great to work with. I can certainly recommend MSTN builds. I know people with JP rifles in 3-gun. They seem very nice as well. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I reload using the Hornady 55 grain VMax. I never really checked how tight the groups are, for 3-gun it seems way more accurate than I am.

JP makes nice rifles, but Wes can build you whatever you want. He'll have your scope mounted and sighted in if you want. I chose all the parts I wanted and the barrel. I got a 18" Lilja fluted barrel that has 4,000 rounds through it and still shoots 1/2 MOA. Good guy to deal with.

I do love some JP parts though...

This.

Have two, (.223/.308) both are very well made rifles and like BCP says, they shoot like lasers.

Joy to shoot, finely finished, great triggers, quality pieces put together well.

Well worth the money.

Re: Mid-South Tactical Network VS JP Enterprises

I had some issues with my AR at a 3-gun match and my friend let me run his JP for the remaining stages.

I came home and sold everything I could to order a JP. I've been shooting AR's pretty seriously for 15 years now and don't get very excited by them. The JP was exciting.

About nine more weeks and my CTR will be ready to run!

Re: Mid-South Tactical Network VS JP Enterprises

I recently sold the VIS 3 upper and replaced it with a DPMS slick side and a Lancer Carbon Fiber hand guard. Now it looks like this- still shoots the same, which is great.

Re: Mid-South Tactical Network VS JP Enterprises

Just built today a new Mega Arms AR15 using all JP internals and barrel (except ALG trigger). I suspect it will shoot very well (sub-MOA) as does my MA-TEN in 308 with JP internals. I sell a large amount of the JP items for folks to use in builds and 100% are satisfied.

John Paul is also a 1st rate guy he came and shot the match I put on with another guy (Woodys Designated Marksman see competetion string) and he is a shooter (won the memorial day PMG match) If I were you I would not hesitate to call and talk to him or his folks.

Re: Mid-South Tactical Network VS JP Enterprises

What do you think of the JP Heat Sink (necessary or not)?

Also, JP has the surefire muzzle brake as a $149 upgrade on the CTR-02. Is this muzzle brake any better than the standard JP brake that comes on it?

Re: Mid-South Tactical Network VS JP Enterprises

I have a 18" CTR02 with the heat sink and I think it's worth the money. Neccessary, probably not since nobody else (that I know of anyway) offers them. I've sat at a bench for a few hours beside my father p'dog shooting and you can definately tell/feel the difference in the handguard.

As far as the brake is concerned, it seems to work really well, not so much for the guy next to you but whatever. That being said - I think a big factor in how soft the rifle shoots is because of the LMOS (bolt/carrier/buffer assy). As far as single stage triggers are concerned JP's are second to none. If you can get your hands on one, go shoot it and your decision may become alot easier.

Re: Mid-South Tactical Network VS JP Enterprises

I've owned (3) JP rifles. My 1st JP15 20" had approx 8000 rnd on her when I sold it. Never a malfunction and groups w/ 55gr NBT were just starting to open up. My other two CTR02's ran 100% as well and were super accurate. They didn't see the round count my 1st rifle did. Highly recommend them. Oh- don't discount the adj JP gas block, LW BCG, and comp combo. Really incredible how this combo sucks the recoil / muzzle flip out of the rifle. Fast and flat!!
