BCM.

LWRC is pretty fancy, very good guns but pistons are overrated. DD makes nice lightweight guns but they're heavily gassed and expensive. You couldn't go wrong with either the LWRC or the DD but I'd grab a BCM rifle or upper and slap it on a good lower and call it good, they're great guns.

Thank you for your suggestions.
Even I try to budget build using BCM upper. End cost be 200$ less that LWRC or 400$ less that DD.

If we're throwing out suggestions I'd also take a look at the ADM UIC Mod 1 LE.

Full ambi, some premium parts, great fit and finish, etc.

The DD are nice. I owned the DDM4V11 for a bit. Excellent fit/finish and ran very smooth.

I’ve seen a couple LMT pop up on here the last few months. Was about to jump on one a while back and missed the boat. They were in the $1500 range in the px

Mostly I shoot my SW MP15 and PSA rifles. I sold he DD to fund my AIAT.

DD makes in house items. As does LMT. If you go with something like a new Colt CR6920 or even (to my understanding) the civilian FN15 rifles your getting components from several manufacturers assembled by the branded company. Doesn’t mean they don’t work well.

BCM is another assembler. Their rifles tend to get decent feedback

For work guns I’ve used FN, Colt LE6920, Stag Model 8 and some GMC stamped Vietnam era M16’s. All ran great with the surplus ammo. They were also decently maintained

PSA rifles.

I bought the 120$ lower and the 270$ M4ish upper they had advertised awhile ago as a birthday present for my younger brother and it runs great. No problems with steel case shit ammo, mags drop free, it even has that rattley upper/lower fit like a "real" one. Gonna buy a couple more while the price is right.

There’s nothing wrong with a Psa. Is it a “battle rifle” no. They’ve had their issues in the past. But for a general all around rifle they’ve come a long ways

The Daniel defense was on another level. But at 3-4x the cost

Nothing wrong with psa or MP15’s in my book. And I’ve owned a few now

I have had 2 piston LWRC's and sold both and currently own a BCM (although IMO their quality has gone down over the years, I've now seen 2 brand new BCM bolts in person that wouldn't extract). Have shot a friend's DD and was not impressed: they are overgassed, overpriced, and way overhyped. I have a KAC SR-15 14.5" that is amazing but expensive. OP, I also own a Triarc Systems TSR-15s 12.5" pistol and the build quality is second to none. Perfectly gassed, zero upper lower "play" or wobble, and accurate. When I first held it, I remarked that the rifle felt like it was one piece, just a solid, solid carbine. That Triarc is what I would go with if you want to avoid proprietary parts or if you don't mind proprietary parts, the KAC or LMT offerings are alpha tier.

I'm not a fan of piston actions as IMO they do not seem to be as accurate or precise as range increases. Realize it is a small difference but being a long range shooter, for me it matters. Could be why I mostly shoot bolt guns.

Oh, forgot to ask if this is a typo "ID" series LWRC AFAIK is not a thing? Guessing you meant to type DI series?

I think Colt 6920 EPR is a pretty decent option, it comes out of the box with Centurion handguard, MBUS Pro sights, and B5 stock.
I have the 11.5 inch upper (6933-EPR) on an Aero M4E1 pistol lower and I really like it.

I second Triarc

A basic rifle from them is 1,599$ and you can add what you want from there ( giessele trigger, A5 buffer, etc.)

Even their basic rifle however is top notch. Its just nice that they let you add the stuff you were going to swap in later anyways right from the factory.

Yes, you are correct I meant DI

I had chance to handle Triarc pistol version. Well build no rattle fit and finish perfect. Only problem is 7 mount waiting time.

If you are ready to buy I would definitely get that Geissele without a doubt. That rifle is loaded for the price.

SSA-E X trigger, their buffer system w/ H2, 1:7 mid length, ambi parts and other enhanced parts. I would change the grip and that's it. That's a very nice factory AR.

12 mo back order
Ouch. Just throwing them out there as I have been pleased with mine. I would think you could throw one together without too much trouble?

16" middy with 12" BAR rail for:
750.00

Enhanced lower without stock:
355.00

Stock of choice: ???

With shipping/tax/ffl and say 50-100 for a stock what are you at maybe 1,3xx.xx ish? Or buy a stripped forged lower and throw the fire control group/pistol grip/lpk you prefer and have a nice setup that way too. Then maybe throw a raptor ch / sight setup of choice and have a nice rifle.

Try 9 months.

I ordered a 13.9 TS-15s on Dec 30th and they are just now getting to my order. Just waiting on the handgaurd to come in which apparently has been the bottleneck in production lately.

But 100% worth it.
After purchasing mine I was lucky enough to see a guy at the range with one and he let me shoot it. All my doubts went out the window... it did get hard though keeping that in mind when I kept on seeing DD's pop up here and there...

I don’t think you’ll find a better deal than that Geissele that was posted earlier. For what it’s worth, have shot the Geissele 10.3 shorty and it absolutely rips. Full auto mag dumps with a suppressor were very controllable and had no issues. I now own the 16in rifle, but no select fire lol.

Otherwise, I’d go with SOLGW. Also a very well made, soft shooting rifle. There was a sage dynamics m-76 in the post exchange for sale…

As an LMT and DD owner, I will say my LMT is definitely the bees knees. However, when it comes to barrels, you either get LMT or have to wait several weeks for one person who does barrel conversions. The DD is non proprietary. Something to consider. LWRC is probably worse than LMT for barrels.

LMT in stock for 1600 (in cart price).

Damn!

May have to snag one of these

When you get to the $1500 range there are so many good, reliable options. Most people are going to have their favorite and opinion, and most of the time their favorite or opinion isn't wrong necessarily.

I have three DD rifles, but I bought them back when you could find a new DDM4V7 for $1,300-1,400. I love mine, no issues across any (one is actually an Ambush 6.8 that is my hog gun that I scored for $1,330 including the Geissele SSA trigger). Do I trust my life to mine? Absolutely. One DDM4V7 is loaded next to my bed right now, and the other is loaded and ready to go in a safe.

That being said, I'm not sure I'd buy one again at the $1,700+ that I see many selling for.

Given my personal experience with FN (I have a DMR II that is a ranch rifle) and that I carried an FN built M16A4 and M4A1 during different deployments to Iraq, I'm fairly confident in those too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy whichever (DD or FN) over a $200 savings.

^Although that LMT Defender ad above is pretty damn attractive...

This x100. A good price for a versatile platform.
