Just got off the phone with MIDWAY USA bought that Pelican Case for 159.00..As a joke Asked them to ship it for free.. shipping was $24.00. found out a trick... if you order an item that ships for free. like a $4.00 midway usa hat it knocks the shit out of the shipping. bought a 4 dollar hat and shipping when from $24.00 to $6.00 Not bad!

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I'll usually try to find something cheap with free shipping when I order projectiles...shipping on 500 175 grain SMK's can get high

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

My shipping went down when I added a hat but only by about $2 dollars. Not enough to offset the cost of the hat. Now what's really interesting is that was when I added a black hat. I added an orange hat that costs the same 4.99 with free shipping and the shipping cost went UP. How is that possible. Midway definitely screws people over on their shipping. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it at all.

YOU Mr. Milo are a wise man...couldn't agree more.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

Remeber when everything was shipped for free from midway or when they were priced lower than everyone else, with out the item "on sale" or "spiecial pricing"... ah, those were the days... shame.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I got so fucking mad this am trying to buy the case, messed with the shipping shit, no go.
I went to Cabela's, they had their Boyd single gun case on sale, $79.99, bought two for $159.98, saved a fuckin penny with free shipping!
The Midway website makes me????

Midway has been doing a lot of shady shit lately. Like putting something on "sale" (a penny off normal price) which is obviously a grab because promo codes don't work on "on sale" items.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

Dropped Midway long ago because of that crap. They must have some real idiot bean counters/MBAs trying to fool customers and make extra pennies by, basically, lying to us. I don't like it and only buy from them if Cabelas, Brownells or local shops don't have it. Make them suffer, then they'll change. However, I doubt they care as they're doing just fine with a jillion newbys buying all kinds of tactical stuff.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I spent $350 bucks on a barrel and some ar stuff. Priority shipped was $10. 2 weeks ago I ordered $100 of stuff that came in a box less than half the size of the previous order and was lighter. Shipping was $20 priority.

Sent an E-mail to customer service and got the usual FOAD canned response. The first order I called in. The last order was on the interwebs. Next time I'm calling in or using someone else.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

All this is why I refuse to buy from Midway. Absolute rip offs.

I don't mind at all paying for shipping and handling - reasonable rates. But $15 shipping and handling for a bipod? C'Mon Man!

Where do I buy from? GunStop Reloading Supplies and Sinclair. Both are top notch.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

kinda wondering if their prime carrier (UPS) is jacking rates due to the holiday season/fuel prices/labor costs/parcel size...

also noticed the USPS option wasn't there...

might have to try this route on a future order...

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I've always had good experiences with MidwayUSA. Though, I've bought small things and used discount codes. It probably doesn't hurt that I live pretty close to a couple major shipping hubs.

Have you guys complained to Midway about their shipping prices? They seem like a company that listens to customers.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I only buy from Midway when I can pick it up. I go by there about once a month or so and make an order a couple of days before. I really got a good deal on 50 BMG bullets with a discount code that worked on two separate orders for the same thing. My wife was in the hospital at the time and I was driving by everyday for several days. I got a code for $10 off of $50 order so 250 50 cal FMJ bullets @ $65 got pretty cheap after $10 off and no shipping. That is the other trick is if you can pick it up make 2 or 3 orders over a couple of days and make them fit discount codes for the best deal.

Stay away from UPS Mail Innovations, one order took two extra days to get here over regular Brown Label UPS.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I purchased a scope that was on sale and had free shipping; as a result, the rest of my order shipped free. What was really surprising is my order included a Dewey cleaning rod that came in a retarded big box. I came out pretty damn well when I used the discount codes on everything that wasn't on sale.

I should have ordered a pair of boots that shipped free with my cases....b/c it's getting deep in here.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

Sorry. Had that window open for a while before I replied.

I made up my last order and the price was the same for the same shipping method... The shipping went from $4.68 to $4.87 for a CDI bottom metal and an AICS magazine. The order was placed in Mid February.

Maybe it's UPS on bigger items, like 30ought6 surmised.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I've had pretty decent luck with their shipping costs I just received a pretty big box today with two rifle cases and 300 175 smk's. Shipping only came out $13 which is pretty reasonable I think. It seems like no matter what I order it's always around 13 bucks.

+1. I was fooled into this option where UPS handles the package into your area, then it gets handed off to USPS to deliver. Usually have orders in 2 days, ended up waiting 5. But that was my bad on selecting the cheapest shipping.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

Whatever happened to voting with your wallet? If you don't like the cost of shipping then buy it somewhere else. Midway is a business and I see a bunch of people whining about just shipping. After my dealings with several other Vendors who don't even have the shit in-stock when they say they do or hearing about Dick's selling people guns in the wrong caliber and not taking them back, I'd say there are a lot worse things to have to deal with. It's also not like the shipping costs is kept some big secret until it's too late. I also see a lot of people whining because they got shipping for free once and now they think they're still entitled to it because some other vendor does it even though that other vendor charges more and has 1/2 the stock.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I have no issue with a company charging shipping costs. Midway however has gotten out of hand and are using it as a way to pad profits. When they try and charge you $20 dollars for REGULAR USPS parcel service for something that would fit in a $5 dollar Priority flat rate box. That's what really pisses me off and is the reason that I will always leave Midway as an absolute last resort when I cannot find something anywhere else.

By pad profits you mean to make money? Like the whole purpose of a business?

I would not run a business by charging people 3-4 times what actual cost for shipping is. I definitely wont support a company that does. It's exactly what I said it was padding profits and it's a shady way of doing business. I'm entitled to my opinion just as you are.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I have done business with Midway many times in the past but their company has gone downhill fast in my opinion. I've gotten notices from them that the ammo I had backorderd had finally arrived only to find out they didn't hold it for me because I hadn't responded the same day the notice was sent and the product was once again sold out. They haven't been able to manage inventory correctly for years now and using S&H charges as a profit center looks to me like a sign of a failing business.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I generally order alot of stuff at one time when I do order. The shipping does not seem too bad when I get a big heavy box of stuff. When I need several things that I would have to source from multiple places it all ends up a wash on shipping. Plus I use the discount codes when ordering so in the end the price delivered is about normal.
For smaller orders I just shop around (actually all orders). If they were cheaper on shipping I would likely just go to midway as they usally have most stuff in stock.
I just ordered 32lb of powder, 10k LR primers and 1k bmg primers from powder valley and it was about $50 cheaper before shipping. There was hazmat for 20 something bucks and the actual shipping was quite cheap. I think it was around $13.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I also have noticed that most of my Midway orders have had shipping costs of $13. I just received a padded envelope, weighing 1-2 lbs, it cost $13.

If larger orders also shipped for $13 that would be okay, but for small orders it sucks.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

seems to me the issue is more with shipping time/fees than with midway itself. I just shipped a four pound package to my nephew in cali. Sent it priority today with a delivery date of late next week or early the next week for $17.65...the box was about the size of a jewelry box

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

A couple buddies at work and I all make a few large orders from midway a few times each year and we all split the shipping. We use the promo codes when available. None of us want to pay the shipping or the tax(Missouri residents), but on some items it is nice to one stop shop...

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I don't like inflated shipping costs. Just price your product appropriately, and let the the shipping be the actual shipping. Doing it any other way is an attempt to manipulate the customer and strikes me as underhanded - I dont see it as any different from the bait and switch, which is illegal in some places. I dont buy from Midway anymore because of this.

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

For me, it's more their website anymore, I hate the format.
I called to complain about with their first change, some butt muncher told me it would be more user freindly, I would like it.
Fuck that noise, I really showed em though, I don't buy from them.
Charging shipping on BO items, oooohhhh, cocksuckers!

In all honesty, if you or I tried to ship that Storm 3300 back to them, it would be a 30 buck bill.

My two Boyt cases I ordered from Cabela's on Monday, shipped free are showing up today!

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

I try my best to steer clear of Midway. As everyone mentioned the whole company/website is just a little sketchy.

When I was in gunsmithing school Brownells bent over backward to help the firearms industry and promote gunsmithing by hosting career fairs, sponsoring gunsmith students by providing NRA memberships, etc. I have never once seen Midway do anything similar - unless you count the cheesy little TV advertisments in the form of "gunsmithing lessons". I realize some people don't like Brownells either, but when it comes down to Brownells or Midway, I will always order from Brownells...

Re: MIdway USA shipping trick

This thread is what is great about America. No matter how good something is there's always complaining to make it better.

Midway was one of the first companies to have automated inventory and ultra fast shipping. Before Midway, you could order something and maybe it was in stock, maybe it wasn't. There was also no guarantee when it was going to ship.

Fuck Brownells. Their prices are always high unless you're a "special customer" (you know who you are) and then their prices are reasonable.

The only company to have outdone Midway is Amazon and I still haven't figure out how they can sell something that weighs 10lbs for $25 and still ship it for free. That's a hell of a business model.

Midway is still going through transition, expanding product lines, updating their website and that costs money. But they are still sending out those coupons (which is something Cabelas has certainly curtailed because their bloated brick and mortar stores have fucked them royally with local taxes).

Midway is still the best out their for inventory and fast shipping and for the most part prices. I'm not complaining until there's someone better.

Indeed! Only in America do we have the freedom to buy firearm components, the demand and freedom that allows multiple suppliers to flourish, the freedom to spend our money wherever we want, and the freedom to speak our minds whenever and wherever we please

Made made me laugh! I just checked them yesterday for a few parts and I gotta add my +1 to that! I'm not sure what makes one "special" I just know that I don't seem to have whatever it is
