Which budget drag bag do you recommend? The Midwayusa brand or the optics planet opmod bag? I need to carry my shotgun, AR, and handgun in it as well as gear. Which would serve me better and is better made?

Sorry is this has been asked, I searched here and Google and got nothing.

Re: Midwayusa or Optics planet drag bag?

I have three budget bags. The first two are from Condor that came from Cheaper Than Dirt and I just bought a Midway. I can no longer find the Condor in the CTD catalog but paid well under $100 each for them. They are used for transporting to the range only and have worked well for at least three years. I do not recommend carrying multiple long guns in them. yet to use the Midway bag but some of my friends use them and they appear to be doing OK. O have no experience with the Optics Planet bag.
There is a Hide supporter who goes by user name Ceylonc that is carrying Condor now. You might look him up.

i love my blackhawk drag bag i have had it for about 5 years and the zippers are great any problems with it send it back and blackhawk will fix it

Re: Midwayusa or Optics planet drag bag?

I just got the Midway bag this week. I cannot speak for the condor bag allthough I have a Condor ruck and it is very well made. The midway bag appears to be rugged. I have not experienced the zipper pull problems others have talked about, yet. I dont know that the bag will be large enough or ideal to carry two guns. The padded divider is thin. My 308 filled up the bag pretty well. I cant see putting another gun in there with it. The side pockets are roomy but I wouldnt throw a handgun in there either. Just my opinion.

I have the OPMOD that cost me $54.99 from dvor.com. I think it is a little more at opticsplanet.com. It is a nice bag for the price and has plenty of storage for gear and handguns, etc. I don't know how durable it would be as a true "drag bag" though.

You can't really compare Blackhawk to a $60 Midway or Opticsplanet bag. For the price, the Blackhawk drag bag should be on par with Eagle.

Re: Midwayusa or Optics planet drag bag?

I just took ownership of a Midway bag and feel it is very rugged except for the zipper pulls. Two of them have come apart in four uses. I also had one of the snaps that protect the long zipper break trying to unsnap it.

I can repair both issues but if Midway would have them use YKK zippers this would be a 10+ bag.

I doubt I will ever use it for a true drag bag, I am not a sniper and I don't want to crawl around when zombies are on the loose, but it does carry my Savage and Mossberg easily enough.

Re: Midwayusa or Optics planet drag bag?

I have had a midway drag bag going on a year now. I must have got a good one becouse mine has held up very well, zipper pulls all are intact, buttons are all good, and it gets used at least twice a month for basic transportation of my rifles to the range. Cant comment on its dragging abilities though.

Hey guys,

I’m glad you’re considering the OPMOD Shooters Mat Drag Bag. We’ve worked really hard on all of our OPMOD products, and they’re a big focus for us here at OpticsPlanet. I’d suggest checking out our video on the bag:

The midway USA bag is affordable and will carry everything you have listed. Mine has been great, I have no complaints.

Re: Midwayusa or Optics planet drag bag?

I'm getting the bag from Midway. I will never order from OP again...they used to be great, but the last four orders have been terrible. OP doesn't even have a real time inventory system. Most of the products are out of stock. They are starting to be like Impact Guns, IMO.

Re: Midwayusa or Optics planet drag bag?

I only have the Midway sniper drag bag so I can't comment on others. Before this I only oned Allen soft single bags so it is definitely stronger and holds two rifles. However maybe i'm just not used to it but it feels very front heavy when lifting by the carry handles. Additionally I can't stand all the straps it came with. The ones for making it a backpack i took off immediately. Only the main sling is still attached.

Also, what is the purpose of the cap in the front attached by the strap? I assume it is for extra protection for the muzzles but it is only 1 layer of fabric and unpadded...it fits very loose as well. Would't it be a better idea to just make the bag's front slightly more padded? I ended up cutting that cap off a few days later with no regrets. I have a Remington 700 5R in AICS stock, Nightforce scope, and my Anschutz 1720d with Leupold Mark 4 for a combined total weight of 32 pounds including bag. Very heavy but I have never used the buttons although I only take it to the range. Seems secure enough without the buttons, only the zipper.

Besides those annoyances I find the bag to be pretty good and am satisfied overall.

Re: Midwayusa or Optics planet drag bag?

I just recently bought the Modgear double rifle bag by Drago from Cheaper than dirt. It holds to 36" rifles with optics, the from bag holds my pistols and various items. The 3 pouches in the front hold all my mags, it has webbing on the front to attach suppressor pouch.

The straps are heavy and durable to hold everything secure, it also comes with backpack style straps and fits me very well
