Please chime in guys if you own a Millet LRS-1 6-25x56mm or a Night force 5.5-22x56mm scope! I'm trying to decide which one to get for my Savage 110 BA .338 lapua. The Millet is $400 while the Night force goes for $1800. Is it worth it to spend the extra on for the Night Force? So what do I really get for the extra $1400 on the Night Force? Also I've read some bad reviews on the Millet scope but those were written in 2008. Has anyone had any problems with the Millet line of scopes recently? I'm a little concerned because bushnell bought out Millet. I got a little bit of money saved up for a scope so I could afford the Night Force but would it be wiser to go with Millet for the price? Between the two what are my disadvantages with going with the Millet LRS-1? I will primarily use this scope for 1500 to 2000 yards. Thanks in advance!

NightForce with out a doubt. Buy millet and you are just going to sell it later for half of what you paid for it. Millet = Junk

Good luck with 1500-200 yards with a Millet and see what your hitting!

This is another concern of mine, does the picture not stay clear when nearing max zoom?

Re: Millet LRS-1 VS. Night force scopes

Other concern is that you are asking about two completely different level of scopes. There are a few in between ones you should be looking at as well. Vortex PST's and SS 5-20. Those are cheaper then the NF and still way better then the Millet.

Re: Millet LRS-1 VS. Night force scopes

These two scopes aren't even in the same league, the LRS is a budget scope of sorts, the Nightforce is a high end scope, there is really no comparison, besides price point, the Nightforce is better than the LRS in every way.

Re: Millet LRS-1 VS. Night force scopes

I think I'm sold on the Night Force scope. Somehow I got the Idea that the Millet's were comparable to Night Force. I need a scope that's built for shooting the mile and beyond, and clear optics are a must at those kind of ranges. Could you guys tell me are the Night Force scopes rugged? I mean are they built to withstand combat situations? On the Night Force website they talk about building them to what military people want, but does the military actually use Night Force scopes?

Re: Millet LRS-1 VS. Night force scopes

If you are really going to shoot that far, buy the best glass you can afford. Wish I would have started with a nightforce. I had to work my way to that level of scope, but you can start there. Do yourself a favor, spend the money now, you won't be sorry. What do you get for the 1400 difference? Everything.

Re: Millet LRS-1 VS. Night force scopes

I've got limited experience with one of the newer Millet's. By "limited", I mean witnessing a friend bring his new Millet to the area where we shoot. He took a few shots, all was well. After tracking out to 600, it did not track back to the 100yd zero.

It's a sub $400 scope, so I didn't expect it to hold up to the winmag.

That's a big difference in price between your choices and as many here will tell you, there are some excellent alternatives that would fit into the $400 - $1400 range.

Re: Millet LRS-1 VS. Night force scopes

I was looking at the Millet LRS-1, having thought it was a decent mid-price scope that I could use on my 260 Rem Predator Max. The primary use of this rifle will be praire dog up to deer size game out to 600 yards. Will the Millet fill that bill?

Re: Millet LRS-1 VS. Night force scopes

I currently own a Millet and I have it on my Savage 10fp in .308. I have found it to be good out to 750+ yards in clarity but only if you keep it under 10x. I agree that it is fuzzy at max zoom.

The above posts are correct. It is a budget scope. My budget did not allow for much over the Millett. Sucks, but fact of life. Reset to zero has been good however and I have not had a problem with that at all. Basically, it is a scope that works very well if you keep it within the scopes limitations.

The Millett is limited to shooting, I feel, under 600y with an average shooter. Probably as good as anything else up to that but really no more.

You need something better.

Re: Millet LRS-1 VS. Night force scopes

I have owned a Millet trs 2 which is the fixed 10x mil/mil. Also uso's and the pst line. For the money I thought that the trs2 was outstanding & it's likly I would buy another one in the future if I needed a budget scope. It tracked well and I was able to see clear to ranges @ 500 yards shooting steel & there isn't a doubt in my mind that it wouldn't be fine @ farther ranges. It took a ton of beatings and always held it's zero I can't say one bad thing about the Millet I had for the price I paid. I personally wouldn't buy the trs1 because it's not ffp I would opt for the trs2 10x mil/mil but thats me! Now that I'm thinking about I wish I wouldn't of givin it to the guy that bought my SASS because he didn't have optics.

In no way am I trying to compair nightforce, uso, or the pst. In the end you get what you pay for.. but for starting out the Millet is GTG in my book.
