I just got my Millett TRS-1 delivered today. Of course I had to unpack it and take a look at it right away. Now I know things can get past QC but some things never should.

1 the windage knob or shaft was bent. It was out of round so when you turned it, it would cover up the hash marks you just went by and uncover some you hadn't got to yet.

2 The best thing was the windage knob was numbered 0-2-4-6-8-6-4-2 and back to zero

Is this some new techniqe I don't know about? Anyone else seen this?

Good thing is Millett is going to send me a call tag so I can send it back. Hopefully it will be replaced and not repaired.

Bad thing is I have no scope for a new rifle.

Millett guy Steve, any comment?

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

I had a BuckGold 4-16X model, not sure which specifically, great glass and I thought an outstanding value. It did not with stand my first trip to the range when I noticed the reticle wobbling. Turns out the magnification adjustment had broken in some way. I believe I initially paid $300 clams for it: while no mystery about not getting a USO or Nightforce for that money, I was disappointed that it broke so readily. In speaking with Millet and our fellow hide member, they were very apologetic and great about repairing it but I chose to send it back to Midway and replaced it with a Burris instead.

It's depressing because I think Millet is on the cusp of a great product line for the money and is dogged by these QC problems.

It's just the hassle factor of repair and postage is huge regardless of the fact I am a very low speed High drag shooter!

Some asses need to be kicked in order to sort out the manufacturing problems this company seems to have in sad abundance. Clearly there are some great products I am seeing at the same price points as Millet is targeting and I hope they get their particular problems sorted out.

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

after the 10 minutes on hold with Bushnell, Milletts new masters, i was told to just mail it back, they woud take care of it. that was nice. bad part was i wanted to do this right so i actually bought some loctite for the dozen screws on the rings. i guess we will see whats up.

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

Hello

sorry you got a bad one. we will get it right for you I am sure.

as to the markings on the windage, I do not quite understand your question. The way dial works you zero the windage and then set the knob to 0 and you will be able to go left or right for windage adjustment.

If you dont get what you need email me and I will see what I can do.

Good shooting

Steve

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

steve i really hope this works out. i want to be happy with the scope. now that i contacted customer service i hope to get a resolution to my issues. do you think there may be a chance that if my scope cant be fixed, it could be replaced with a mil/mil version?

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

Pyro,
Yes, the windage knobs on many scopes are numbered this way now. 8 MOA of windage is a lot of windage. If you need more than 8 MOA windage, you're probably talking alot of luck to hit the target.

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

Thanks for the up date, I had not seen and or heard of that before.

I figured it would be kinda weird to send out knobs out that numbered wrong but it is Chinese and and never know.

I didn't expect this to replace a Nightforce or USO but was hoping I could get it mounted and try it out.

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

I bought a millett and it was supurb. Im sad that i sold it:(. The windiage screw is numbered that way so you dont have to count going against the numbers. Mine when through 15 in my buck gold and when i dialed left windage i beleive i had to count the hash marks comparded to going right all i had to do was set it on the corect number.

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

i got a millet trs1. made sure it was the 09 model (has adjustable illumination). no problems and everyone i've shown it to is impressed. even good glass. while deer hunting after it was too dark to really see clearly 100yds out unaided, the scope had a clear focused view. that impressed me although it was after legal shooting hrs. too bad a coyote didn't happen across my field.

Re: Millett, bad out of the box

I'm having issues with my 09 TRS-1. Near the left horizontal heavy post there appears to be some chipping. I'm not familiar with the lens coating process but its almost as though its flaked off. Also there seems to be some shit floating around in the scope. Comes and goes with shots, even though both the objective and ocular are clean on the outside. Millett said send it in with proof of purchase, no RMA required.

I bought the scope because it has some good features and fit the budget but I'd rather have a scope at that price point with less features that actually work then deal with/hear about all the problems.

its good to hear something good about the scope. if i had never thought to check my elevation travel i bet i would have never had an issue just having 66 moa. i would have just zeroed at 100y and been fine there and shooting 300y as well. but later down the line when i went out to 600y or 1000y i would have had issues. if you never plan to shoot distance, your good to go and you dont need to check to see if you have 90 moa elevation.
