Two friends of mine just bought millet rifle scopes. After sighting in there 7mm Rm's they both noticed that they only have about 30 MOA UP left in the turret. both are using hand loaded 168 VLD bereger's and most of you know that these bullets in that round will go well past 1000 yards. both friends have 0 MOA scope bases on there rifles. well they were some what dissapointed with the lack of adjustment on there optics. one of them called millet and spoke with a representative about this. The millet rep confirmed that all millet scopes are designed for 30 to 40 MOA bases and that with a 0 moa base you will only have the top third of adjustmet. Just thought i'd let you "hiders" know. ps the glass in these optics are very clear and the scopes otherwise look good. models bought are the buck gold. and the TRS1 4-16x50. another note the BIG TRS 6-25X56 34mm has the same MOA set up.

Re: Millett scope MOA

There is 80 MOA in the scope. my friends gripe is WTF do "I" need 50 MOA down for? Out west we shoot long on a regular basis. 30 MOA is only enough "dope" to get out to 1085 yards. and that working on the outer limits of the turret. his load is capable of 1,570 yard accuracy @ 60MOA. before it goes sub sonic. just saying. he is now liqidating "toys' to fund a NightForce. To compare my 338LM when zero'd @ 100 yards with my NF NXS 5.5x22x56 With zs has all but 1and 3/4 MOA of adjustment left.food for thought- My NF has 100 MOA of adjustment. not sure if having a ZS clutch helps?

Re: Millett scope MOA

Wouldn't it be cheaper to get a 30 or 40 MOA base? Sounds like they are loosing 10 with the existing base/receiver alignment and if they like the glass outside of the adjustment then that's probably the easiest and cheapest solution. Not knocking getting a NF as I just bought one myself but with the existing base they are only going to get another 10 up by just changing the scope since you are moving from an 80MOA scope to 100MOA scope. That 10MOA boost only gets them to 40MOA. Changing the base gets them 60-70.

Re: Millett scope MOA

Makes total since rod. The one friend has coveted my NF for a while and is going to keep the millet. He is going to put it on his AR. And yes he is going to save some money as well and get the 40MOA base as a back up as well.

Re: Millett scope MOA

The problem they are having is that with the millet the scope is "designed" to zero within the top third of the adjustment. It has Ben my experience with most optics. Such as NF and leupold that they zero in the bottom third of there adjustment. So you have 75% of your MOA left to "dope up"
