I have been thinking about a new scope for my hunting rifle and have been looking at a Minox ZP5 3-15x50 MR2, have not seen much here about these scopes. have a ZP5 5-25x56 MR4 on another rifle and love the scope. Anyone using the 3-15 on a hunting rifle and have any input.

I am. Used it hunting this fall too. Probably one of my favorite optics at the moment. Mines with the MR5. Parallax is friendlier than my 5-25 ZP5, eyebox is plenty roomy and the low light is great. The only issue I had was the illum would come on when strapped in my back. Other than that it'd be about perfect if it came with locking turrets.
That is a very nice setup, the 3-15 ZP5 is an underrated scope IMO. Our local SWAT Team has also been using them with success that past two years.

Getting ready to order one of these, seems like a great deal to me if they are anything like the 5-25, I personally like the MR2 reticle better than the MR5. have seen a lot of info on the 5-25 but next to nothing on the 3-15, will go on a hunting rifle, has anyone had any issues with this scope or the MR2 reticle, how does it compare to the Kahles, SB or Nightforce.
Anyone know why Minox stopped providing the MR2 reticle and did not put the .2 mrad graduations on the MR5? Is the illumination on the MR2 bright enough during low light conditions?
It's plenty good enough for low light on the ZP5s. MR2 only lights up the very center cross hairs. The MR5 lights up most of the reticle. I have and use both. Both work well. MR2 has the thick lines on all 4 sides that are useful on low mag in a hunting situation. I like the MR5 better for target shooting with being able to hold elevation if needed and a slightly finer aiming point as the center reticle tapers down slightly for further out shots. No issues with pounding 10 inch plate at 700+ of the porch for me. I think I like the MR5 better overall but for Hunting the MR2 is more useful on low mag settings as you naturally center the target between the 4 thick lines. I find both very useful and would buy either that was available.
Some not so great photos here, but you get the idea.. reticles are cleaner and more defined and darker in real life. Photo makes it look like a hazey mess. The MR2 is at 3x and then 15x. The MR5 is close to 10x but I can't remember.

I do not right now. Im also out of town so it would be til after the 15th to get some. Those were just the pics that I had on my phone from sharing with another member on SH. I think the MR5 personally is easier to "see" with illumination as there is much more of the reticle illuminated. The MR2 is the same "brightness" but just the main center cross-hair thats illuminated. Still easy to see in low light, just not as much illuminated reticle as the 5. So when on 3x I think the MR5 is easier to see then the MR2 as more is illuminated. Weither that makes one more useful I guess is up to the individual. With the thicker lines on both coming into center, I dont find myself needing illumination really as these scopes glass is so good, I can see much later with these then with other optics in the same mag range. Its like using Binos from Swaro is how I describe these in low light.

I used one for about a year, a truly fantastic scope. 10/10 would recommend.
Just had the wife take a few photos with a MR2 for me but it was hour after dark. Ill post them here in a second. 3x 5x 10x 15x. She says illumination was on 11. Pretty sure that's max without looking at it. Pretty crappy Photos but its what I got.

The Mr2 is much harder to see as a whole under illumination. As the illuminated reticle is just the small part of the center. Same brightness as others, just about a 1/10 of the real estate.

I liked the scope a lot. It was just a hair behind the Tangent Theta and that was largely due to me preferring TT turrets. Optically, they were very close and that is very good company to keep.

I agree with your findings. The Minox ZP5 is a great optic and I continually am impressed with both the 315 and 525.
