I'm looking to upgrade my competition rifle scope. I've got it narrowed down to the Minox ZP5 and the Kahles 624i. While similar, I prefer the MR4 reticle over the Kahles SKMR3 so that is driving the decision. However, unlike Kahles, I don't see the Minox in competitions so I'm concerned about the durability of it during matches. Is anyone on here running the Minox in PRS and making it through?

My perception is the Minox ZP5 offering is newer and doesn't have the durability record that Kahles and others have in PRS. So, while I think the MR4 is the best reticle for what I want, I don't want to select a scope that's going to need repairs after a couple of matches or a class.

when i think durability record, i for sure dont think kahles...only took them 3 generations to get it pretty solid

ive been running a minox for the past couple months, first one had issues holding zero after the first match which may/may not have been partly my fault for initially over tightening the turret set screws causing them to slip when being dialing after trying to adjust zero again (havent got the repair report back yet so im not sure what the problem was)...the replacement for it has been thru probably 4 or 5 club matches around TX now and has some decent scuffs around the objective bell...ive either won or finished 2nd in all of them with no tracking issues so its been working great, zero is spot on every time out to the range

One gentleman I shot with at the Wyoming ELR match had put 8k rounds through his. He is a very competitive shooter and nice guy. This helped me in my decision to get one.

By the way, Kahles does not have the have the best record for durability either. Not saying they are bad. All scopes have a failure rate. This includes all the big brands. Unfortunately, there is not perfect scope.

I've not paid much attention to Kahles until this year and Minox over the last month or two. I've got buddies running Kahles and they've been banged a little and still trucking, so that was part of the basis for durability. I also saw Lowlight's recent article on scopes in classes he taught where the Kahles was called out for 100% tracking. So, I guess I missed the Kahles trouble spots earlier on. Now I understand why I see people referring to 624i Gen 3.

Thanks both for the quick feedback. Helps to know that Minox is out there getting beat up and still going. Now, they just need to get back in-stock for me to buy one.

Dan is very happy with his Minox and just won another NCPPRC match and his partner Gustavo who also runs a Minox was 4th of 52 shooters.

Gustavo also came in 2nd place at the Utah NRL match ahead of MANY top shooters... I got one love mine, also they have a very Vortex optics like warranty perfect or PRS " any accidental damages to the covered Product, including breakage, water damage, or any accident." direct from their website.

OP the team at Minox is composed some very respected names in the industry.

Bunch of folks from Schmidt & Bender, the Optrokina team, Leica and Zeiss folks, etc.

if these guys can't build a good scope... then were all doomed.

Both Minox zp5 one from MR5 and 1 MR4. Both have been run hard on ar15s ar10s and bolt prs on bighorns. They are really something. Traded in the kahles gen 3 to get the MR4. Never looked back. Had zero slip once due to operator error.
