How exactly is mirage compensated for in terms of static (vertical) mirage and mirage driven by wind? (which way does the target "appear" to move)

And, is the position of the sun in relation to the shooter related in any way to mirage?

How does POI change with the position of the sun?

Thanks

Re: Mirage, Sun and Wind...

The image will always move down wind or in the direction of the boil, which will change with the frequency of the waves of the mirage. However the original image and where the target is will always return to the same point up wind or at the point of origin in the mirage.

So, the image will fluctuate with the wind, but return to the point of origin, this is where the target actually is.

Mirage is water and think of it as carrying the image on the waves in their direction of travel, and when you see it at its origin, through the breaks in the waves, that point is fixed, where the fluctuation is random.

Thanks for the replies. This should at least give me a baseline to experiment with so I am not burning ammo just trying to get a handle on the properties of MSW.
