Shooters -

Missouri has a new private 1100 yard range called Rolling Hills Rifle and Pistol Club, owned by Brian Butts, host of the annual Midwest Rifle Masters Benefit Challenge (a PRS Series match). It is located 12 miles west of Camdenton, MO.

Rolling Hills is a private firearms range and training facility normally reserved for dues-paying members only:

Ranges up to 1100 yards for rifle, pistol and carbine
Future expansion to 1200 yards
30 steel targets from 250 to 1100 yards
A paper range with hangers from 100 to 400 yards
Short and medium range paper and steel targets for pistol and rimfire
Climate controlled clubhouse
Covered firing positions, barricades, benches and other unique firing
supports
Open seven days a week for members. Memberships are $275 annually.
Members receive 12 'Guest Passes' per year...bring your friends!

TWO EVENTS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!:

Rolling Hills will host two great PUBLIC EVENTS in June to increase awareness of the facility and attract new members. This is your chance to let your favorite rifle stretch its legs on the longest steel range available at a public venue in Missouri.

'D.O.P.E. Day' will be held from 9AM-3PM on Saturday, June 7th. It is an 'open range' format to allow shooters to build DOPE charts and tweak their ballistic calculators. Steel targets are placed at 50 and 100-yard intervals from 300 to 1100 yards. Range Officers will keep the steel targets freshly painted for easy spotting throughout the day. Range Fee is $35 for the day....lunch included. Members shoot free, so apply your fee toward a membership!

A STEEL TACTICAL MATCH will be held from 10AM-3PM on Saturday, June 14th. Use your newly developed DOPE to compete in a fun and challenging format. The Courses of Fire are outlined below. Range Fee is $35 for the day, or $25 if you participated in DOPE Day the week prior. Members compete free, so get your membership now! Registration begins at 9AM, and the shooter briefing starts promptly at 10AM.

Lunch: Grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, chips, and soft drinks are included in your range fees.

Ammo: Bring 50+ rounds just to make sure you have enough. Most stages allow an unlimited round count, limited by time.

Restrictions: .30 caliber max, 3100 fps muzzle velocity speed limit, no steel or steel core ammo (m855, Russian ammo, etc.) ….help keep our steel targets in good shape!

I am going to wring your neck. I seem to recall you shooting something like a 2.5" grouping at 1100 yds. Where is that picture?

Seriously, we went out yesterday and set a bunch (bunch=one metric buttload) of steel targets. There is steel in 50yd increments out to 1000yds. A great way to check all your drop data in one setting. There is no way you will go away without feeling like you had a blast at either event.

No sign up required....but it would be good if you can chime in as a 'definite' or a 'maybe', and for each of the dates (7th and 14th) to help give us an idea of how many shooters we will have, and especially to figure out how much food to prepare...we are looking forward to a good crowd and a great time.....hope to see you there!

I spent a couple hours out there today. There is very little in life, that is more fun than smacking steel at 1100yds. The wind was brutal, I think I only hit about 1/2 of my shots beyond 900 yds.


I was even able to shoot a 1/2" group at 100 yds. I am not sure why I am replacing my barrel. (Oh yeah! It has 3-4000 rounds through it!!)

I'm so glad I joined and can't believe there is a range like this so close to where I live. Brian is great and runs a fun and challenging range. The wind calls can be a real trick.

I will have to defer to Brian on that one.... If you are pretty sure you want a membership, then I would suggest contacting Brian via phone or email, and I am sure that he can accommodate you (the range is on his private farm). The info is available here: https://www.facebook.com/rhrpc There is currently no plan to offer 'day passes' for non-members....that is one of the reasons we are holding these public events -- to allow folks to use the range and perhaps get interested in a membership. For those who get memberships, the range is open 7 days a week.

Brian has been working hard and has constructed two more target sets for competition, and has started building berms for the 600 yard target and beyond for better spotting.

Yes, bring anything you want. It is a casual day, letting individuals take their time getting DOPE from the long range platform, or zeroing down on the 100 and 200-yard paper ranges. Depending on the turnout, we may have a couple of side matches to pit your skills against others, but there will be plenty of time for everything, no hard schedule.

We had a blast today. The rain let up early and we had about 10-12 shooters getting data out to 1100 yds. The winds were brutal. Almost everyone was having trouble past 800yds. Except for Buzz, he had a center punch at 1000 on his first attempt. He is a god like machine when he pulls the trigger.

We had a great turnout for DOPE Day, and now it's time to put that data to good use this coming Saturday for our PUBLIC MATCH. All shooters are welcome to attend. Fee is $35 including lunch (we will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs at the clubhouse).

The shooter's briefing will be at 10AM!!

Three simultaneous stages will be shot before lunch off of the barricades at medium range. After lunch we will shoot at least three stages at longer range, and we will do some side matches if time permits.

It is going to be a great time, and the weather forecast is for sunny skies with a high temperature of 80 degrees.... Perfect!
