I don't know if this is a dumb question but would a rifle set up with a PRI forend and a Swan sleeve (like a Mk12 Mod 0) have a stiffer forend than a contemporary free float tube that attaches to the barrel nut?

I know most ARs that have a free float handguard that clamps to the barrel nut exhibit a certain amount of poi shift when going from shooting prone off a bipod to shooting off a bag on a barricade or a tripod (generally a few tenths down, in my experience) and that a monolithic upper is generally the answer but how does the Mod 0 setup compare?

For what it is worth, my main rifle is a Mk12 mod H type build, with the shorter type sight rail. It is alot stiffer than the regular type barrel nut and handguard it replaced, with little to no POI shift.
I did however try out a friends IWI ZION 15 SPR which has a very sturdy handguard with a oversized steel barrel nut. That setup seemed to be just as stiff with little to no POI shift on that rifle either.

There are so many AR handguard systems that I dont think you can brush them of and say they all have POI shift, as some are definitely worse than others. I do however feel that the MK12 mod 0 and mod H are the best looking ones, and I am very happy with mine.

Thanks for that! Beauty rifle. Yeah, I guess I probably should've also asked which free-float handguard/barrel nut combos are less susceptible to POI shifts.
