Re: MN member checking in!

Sorry about that Austan, I was right in the middle of putting a guy in cuffs when you called. I was going to call yesterday but I figured you were on your 12hr day...

Yep, everything looks like a go for the 24th. I can't seem to figure out the round count for the match, is it 20 rounds at 600 only or do we shoot match 1-7 on the list???

Re: MN member checking in!

If you shoot the F-class, it's 88 rounds, 4-20 shot strings and 2 sighters per string. We just shoot 8,9,10,11 on Saturday. You guys can crash here again if you want on Saturday night, I think I have everything for the ceiling except cheap laborers, you'll do.

Re: MN member checking in!

88 rounds at 600

I'll be tryin with irons on my match gun.

If anyone wishes, both my 6br and .223 are ready to go for loaners.

We'll be done early enough in the day to shoot here some, do some loading, or whatever.

Austin, I still have not re crowned your barrel, maybe we'll do that Sat after the match here at the shop.

Re: MN member checking in!

Been a while since I have been on here. Sounds like you guy's are Itchin to get to Eau Claire, me too! Austan too bad your busy this weekend Miles and I are going to try to get to Durand and shoot some type of match they have going on down there. Marty you busy this Saturday? I guess it's 45 rounds total, two man teams shooting at water filled bottles from 100-500 yards at some guy's place.

Re: MN member checking in!

Hey Garrett sounds like you guys are gonna have some fun! I'm going to try to get some of the ceiling stuff done before then so we can just get hammered instead of working which would be ideal. Marty, you and Garret and the other guys coming down to the shoot can come up as well if you want to. I don't have places to sleep but if you drink enough, everything is a bed. Bring your livers...

Re: MN member checking in!

Not sure if I can make the match... As things get closer it's not looking good, primarily because of no babysitter for the kids as the wife works Friday night till 7am.... Besides, the 6BR is shooting like shit for some reason, but I should have that squared away in time...

Good to see everyone again. We a lot of fun down at Martys shooting at 1k. Looking forward to the next time all ready.

Noah, your rifle looks sweet, sorry I dropped it on the blacktop. Chris said he'll buff the gouges out of the crown before he drops it off to you. lol

not sure if I count as young...probably not....but I will be out there once the school year ends

Re: MN member checking in!

We have had some good turn outs the past two Monday nights. Around 35 shooters this last Monday night. I managed a 187 4x w/ my ar15 w/ a 5.56mm chamber. Hopefully I can get into the 190's next week! I am going to do an equipment test at 300y for the last 300y event w/ the 308win to make sure everything is still dialed in. More importantly is that I need to make sure my shoulder can hand the recoil shooting it prone. Seperated my right shoulder about a year ago in a mountain bike accident. I just might have to learn how to shoot left handed if things dont go well.

Re: MN member checking in!

Anyone know of any shoots (pistol, M4, long rifle etc. etc.) in the area of Walker, Mn around Memorial Day Weekend? I will be in the area with fam and there is no way I can take four days straight....... Let me know, I would love to treat myself to chaotic silence!

Re: MN member checking in!

I live about 20 min South of Walker in Pine River, we have a really nice range here but it's only 200yrds... If I don't have anything going on your more than welcome to go kill some paper, but as for matches we have none in the area....

Re: MN member checking in!

Harris is hosting an F-class league this summer, about every other Thursday rounds going downrange at 5:00 PM. We will be shooting at 300, 500, 600, and 1,000 yards. The schedule of events for Harris is on their website (grrc.org), the next shoot is May 26th.

It is a casual league of shooters ranging from little experience to more experienced come on out if you want to hone your skills.

PM me if you have specific questions and I should be able to answer them. I will be off the net for about a week and a half starting this wed AM. don't worry you do not hear from me

Re: MN member checking in!

Wade,

Thanks for the info and the offer on F-Class at Harris.

I got in there as a member this spring. I went up there alone Saturday and shot 300-1000 yds to develop/verify drop data. Worked out pretty good so I've got some hard numbers out to 1000 yds now.

The 1000 yd line was pretty intimidating, although I got the hits after a little trial and error. Sure makes for a lot of running back and forth to the pit, though.

None of my local buddies have any long-range interest - so I've done most of my shooting by myself so far. I just thought finding a few guys to shoot with would be more fun. I got my six year-old son started last fall and he really enjoys it. That was something I'll never forget.

Oh, I met Adam when I picked up a 'few things' at his place last summer. First class guy.

Jace, how for is Harris from Milaca,MN

Re: MN member checking in!

Harris is about a 30 minute, or so, drive from Milaca.

I am a 15 year GRRC member who is from the Harris area. Was there last Sunday morning at the Benchrest Range checking some loads. I too would like to try F-Class but my job prevents me from making such time commitments.

I read a few entries above and regarding Adam Bauer, of Big Lake, I can testify that he is a great individual to do business with. He even invited me to his house to try out AICS stocks.

Anyone who has questions about the GRRC range let me know.

Are they still taking memberships?

Re: MN member checking in!

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: sandwarrior</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Are they still taking memberships? </div></div>

Yep, I believe they accept membership applications year-round. Club applicants gotta attend 2 consecutive monthly meetings (for formal reading of your name). Couple other hoops to jump through but otherwise pretty easy. There is a waiting list, however. The sooner you apply, the better - I guess. The May newsletter says there are now 20 on the waiting list. Openings are filled at the beginning of every year.

Members can always bring 2 guests. If we have just a couple members (combined with other guys as 'guests' - we could get a pretty good group together. Otherwise, non-members can always shoot the organized events.

Re: MN member checking in!

Hey guys just got done baling hay this weekend so that means my range is open for some fun out to 500 ish yards if anyone west of the cites was interested in shooting on sunday June 6th. Just tossing the invite out if anyone wanted to join me

Re: MN member checking in!

There is a 2 day 1,000 yard F-class match at Harris, it also open to sling shooters. Here is a link to the match bulletin http://www.mrra.org/downloads/grrc/2010LR_regional.pdf A couple of things to note in the bulletin

<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">SAFE ZERO: It is essential that competitors have a safe zero at 1,000 yards for this match.
The GRRC club has implemented a 1,000 tournament rule to increase the safety of this match, and to
reduce the number of people showing up without any kind of zero on their rifle. We are limiting the
number of beginning shots that don’t hit the target to 6. During these beginning shots if you do hit your
target, you’ll become eligible to continue to take as many sighters as you want, or start shooting for
record.
If you don’t hit your target in the first 6 shot’s, then you’ll either have to remove that rifle from the line and
try another, or be disqualified from shooting that match.
We will try very hard to help get you on target in the first 6 shots.</span></span>

Usually the 1,000 zero does not exclude anyone as there are some very experienced shooters present who can help you walk the shot in.

Rounds will be going down range at 9:00 with registration starting at 7:30.

Good Luck to All That Compete!

Re: MN member checking in!

You missed a great day to shoot at 1,000 yards today at Harris. There was approximately no wind. The third match got postponed until tomorrow, after the postponed match will be three individual and one team match.

If you want to try scoped shooting off a front rest or bipod at 1,000 yards show up for registration tomorrow at 8:00 AM

Re: MN member checking in!

Missed out on p-doggin last week, doesn't open till this weekend... figures. I've been kicking myself since you called me Chris. I almost called you during the week to see when you were coming out. I remember you saying you guys went out early. When the fella at the cafe said it wasn't open, I put it on the bottom of the priority list. We saw some pretty country anyways.

Did you get out to the 50 match Marty? I've got some shop work for you, as always.

Re: MN member checking in!

I had my F-class rig stolen from my truck last night, yes I was stupid I know that. Anyway, if you hear of a rifle for sale or see one that fits this description please let me know at 763-780-6241.

Description:
Action: Stiller Predator short action, single shot

Barrel: 28" 1-8" twist 1.25" straight, chambered in 6mmBR and the barrel has been QPQ treated. The name of the gunsmith is on the barrel also. The QPQ treatment leaves the surface with a matte black finish so hard that you can not scratch it with a file.

Scope: 12-42 Nightforce BR

Stock: A custom stock that I built. Best described as a lowrider F-class, it has 0.25" high density polyethylene glued onto the bottom of forearm and butt stock to reduce the friction between stock and bags, it is lamiantd and stained in a walnut stain and has an adjustable cheek piece. Of course the action is bedded into the stock.

Case: GunGuard brand black hard plastic with pelican-like latches the foam is cut for the gun and two cleaning rods.

Given I built the gun I can easily identify every part on the gun. I imagine the street urchins are looking at the gun this morning and wondering hat caliber a 6mm BR is.

The gun is rather unique and if anyone sees a gun matching this description or hears of it for sell you can call me at the number above or call the police and have them contact the Blaine PD.

Thanks,

wade brown
