My scope is set up for MOA. My question is, does it matter if i use meters or yards on my rangefinder? will the change the calculation at all? or is this totally irrelevant and i am over complicating things? BTW I am using a Vortex 100 ranger and a Vortex Viper HS 4-16x50.

It only matters if you are using the reticle in the scope for ranging. you need to be sure you are using the correct formula for meters or yards, the conversion is different.

If you are ranging with the scope, it matters that you use the correct formula for the units you want out - yards or meters. There are formulas for each.

If you are ranging with a range finder, then it matters that you range in the units you used for your data card. If your data card is in yards, then I'd suggest ranging in yards. If your data is in meters, then range in meters.

MOA is an angular measurement. It does not matter if you use yards or meters for your distance.

I hope that helps.
